LEWISPORT ? Michael Anthony Bittel, 56, of Lewisport passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville. He was born Sunday, July 22, 1956, in Owensboro to Harold Anthony and Wanda Faye Covetts Bittel. He was employed as a leveler operator since 2006 at Aleris Rolled Products and worked for Dal-Tile for 30 years. Mike enjoyed watching UK basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals and attending his grandson's ball games, and he loved his dogs, Paco and Gia. He was a member of United Steel Workers Local 9443 and attended Lewisport United Methodist Church.
Mike is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 30 years, Debbie Rhinerson Bittel; his mother, Wanda Faye Bittel; his children, Leigh Ann Clark (Brian) and Denny Aull (Katie), all of Owensboro, and Michael Bittel (Kristen) of Houston; his brothers and sisters; David Bittel (Renee), Donna Wheet (Eddie) and Greg Bittel, all of Lewisport, Jeff Bittel (Cheryl) of Louisville and Tina Gray (Chuck) of Hawesville; as well as two grandchildren, Hunter Michael Clark and Cody Matthew Clark.
Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Taylor-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Lewisport (295-3312), with Brother Joey Murphy officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Lewisport Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
