Eva Lockner, 86, Mandan, died Feb. 24, 2012, at her residence. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. William Ruelle as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Rice.
Eva was born on Jan. 19, 1926, to Jacob and Margaret (Berger) Wetsch. She was raised and educated in Odense. On May 7, 1945 she married Joseph Lockner in Odense. Eva and Joseph resided on a farm near Fort Rice until Joseph's death in 2004. After Joseph's death Eva went to live at Liberty Heights in Mandan.
Eva was a very active member of the Moose Club; she loved spending her time here. She was named Deputy Grand, which was a great sense of pride for her. She enjoyed the numerous hours of volunteer work over the years. Eva loved to cook; she was known to make the best Apple Strudel and Cream Chicken and Dumplings. Eva also loved playing cards, especially Black Jack; she was often lucky on her trips to Prairie Knights Casino. When she sat down at the table; she was the life of the party.
Eva will be deeply missed by her two children, Linda (George) Gerhardt, Bismarck, and John (Sherry) Lockner, Mandan; her grandchildren, George J Gerhardt, Fargo, Scott Gerhardt, Mandan, and Joseph (Lori) Lockner, Mandan; and her great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Jerica and Jace Lockner, all of Mandan.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her parents; a grandchild, Mark; four sisters; and six brothers.
