Bender, 93, of Hibbing, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at the Guardian Angels Health & Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing. Ruben J. Bender, 93, of Hibbing, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at the Guardian Angels Health & Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing. Ruben was born May 25, 1913 to Jacob and Katherina (Hetterly) Bender in McClusky, N.D. He was united in marriage to Clara Bettger on Oct. 24, 1935 in McClusky, N.D. They resided there until moving to Tuttle, N.D., and Clarrisa, Minn., and settled in Hibbing in 1956. In 1953, Ruben started working for Burlington Northern Railroad, while there he worked as a laborer, cook and foreman. During Ruben's free time he enjoyed farming and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Clara, November, 2006; his parents, Jacob and Katherina; grandson, Dennis Bender; one granddaughter; brothers and sisters. Survivors include daughters, Leona (Pete) Faucett, of North Fork, Calif., Betty (Robert) Anderson of Lincoln, Neb., Pearl Kruger of St. Cloud, Minn., Alvina (William) Tinsley of Superior, Wis., Linda (Darryl) Anderson of Hibbing, Minn.; sons, Orville (Betty) Bender of Superior, Wis., Jacob (Camie) Bender of Springfield, Mich., Wilfred Bender of Hibbing, Minn., Duane (Nancy) Bender of Hibbing, Minn., Richard (Beverly) Bender of Superior, Wis.; sister, Esther Wahl of Washington; brother, Henry 'Hank' Bender of South Dakota; 23 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. VISITATION:5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2007 and from 12 noon Saturday until the 1 p.m. funeral service, all in the Range Funeral Home. Major Jon Fjellman will be officiating.
