Avalene Marie Stafford (1925 - 2013) Obituary Guest Book "My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief...." - Ann Isam View Sign A Requiem Mass for Avalene Marie Stafford, 87, of Flint, formerly of Sun Lakes, Ariz., and San Diego, Calif., will be on Friday, May 3, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Flint with Father Timothy Kelly officiating. Mrs. Stafford passed away Monday, April 22, 2013, in Tyler. She was born June 13, 1925, in Denver, Colo., to Alphonse L. and Anna Louise Gertler Salazar. Avalene was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Flint. She graduated from Huntington Park High School and attended Woodbury College. She held the position of payroll supervisor for Walker Scott Corp. for 23 years. Avalene was treasurer of Sun Lakes Women's Association in Sun Lakes, Ariz., and president of the Boosters Club for the men's slow-pitch baseball team. She also established and coordinated the prayer line for St. Mary Magdalene Parish. Avalene considered her greatest accomplishment in life as raising her five children. Mrs. Stafford was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving family including husband of 67 years, Gordon "Boyd" Stafford; sons, Christopher Lee Stafford, Stephen Michael Stafford and wife Gael and Mark Lynn Stafford and wife Ginger; daughters, Carol Marie Kelly and husband Regan and Kathy Ann Stafford and husband David; grandchildren, Colin Henry Stafford, Keirstin Ann Stafford, Kara Elizabeth Stafford, Jesse Lowell Stafford, Sarah Marie Kelly, Kyle Regan Kelly, Conor Michael Kelly, Britt Emily Stafford, Wyatt David Stafford and Reagan Marie Stafford; sister, Louise Williman; and brother, Gene Salazar. Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2013, immediately followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
