McClure, the son of Alva and Barbara McClure, was born in Tazwell county, Illinois, October 27, 1881, and departed this life at his home in Republic July 31, 1959 at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 4 days. When he was about two years of age he came to Republic County with his parents, grew up and spent the remainder of his life in the Republic community. On March 20, 1907, he was united in marriage to Bertha McCarty. To this union was born a daughter, Mrs. Florence Kehr of Denver, Colo. and a son, Clifford of Republic. He graduated from Republic high school and was a farmer and stockman. He served his community as a school board member and on the town Councicl (sic). He was a member of the Masonic lodge of Republic. In his later years he derived a great deal of pleasure from his antiqiue collections many of which he started when a boy. His collections of china and glassware were especiall (sic) well known and admired. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Clara, and is survived by his wife, Bertha, daughter, Florence, son Clifford, a brother, William, five grandchildren: Carol Kehr, Chicago, Ill., Elizebeth Mondell*, and Margaret Germann of Denver, Colo. Barbara Griner of Franklin, Ind. and Michael McClure of Republic, also one great-grandson, Eddie Germann. There will be many friends to sorrowfully note his passing. Funeral services were held at the home on Monday, August 3, at 10:00 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Lovejoy Bennett and interment was in the Prairie Rose cemetery with graveside services in charge of Republic Lodge No. 123 A.F. and A.M.
