Obituary, 5 Dec 1924. JOS. VOGLER, SR, DIES, AGED 88 - South Wheeling, Was Member of Old Opera House Orchestra. Joseph Vogler Sr. well known aged resident of South Wheeling died yesterday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home of his son Joseph Vogler Jr., at No. 2138 Chapline street. He had been in ill health for the past several years but his illness did not become serious until about one week ago when his condition took a turn for the worse. Mr. Vogler was in his 89th year. He was born in Germany and came to this city when a young man. He was one of the early musicians of Wheeling, having been one of the organizers of the first Opera House band. He retired from active business more than 15 years ago. He was united in marriage to Miss Teresa Redeker, who preceded him in death 17 years ago. He was a devout member of St. Alphonsus' church and was also a loyal member of several of the societies connected with the church. He leaves to mourn his loss the following children, all of Wheeling: Mrs. Henry S. Emig of Wellsburg; William J., Joseph Jr., and Anna. Funeral services will be held at the home Saturday morning at 8:30 o'clock with requiem high mass following at 9 o'clock at St. Alphonsus' church. Interment will be in Mt Calvary cemetery.
