William Bill Fischer passed away Feb. 13, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. in Cincinnati, Ohio, from complications from Alzheimers Disease and acute and chronic kidney failure.
Bill was born May 18, 1934, in Sidney to John and Margaret Fischer. He was raised at the old homestead with four brothers and four sisters. An older sister, Mary, preceded Dad in death when he was 3 years old. He went to school up through the eighth grade. He would occasionally ride his horse back and forth to school, a distance of three miles each way.
He met and married his one true sweetheart, Betty Norton, on May 31, 1954. Mom and Dad left Sidney in 1971 and moved to Phillipsburg, where they managed the Pintlar Hotel and Lounge.
After moving to Bozeman, Dad became supervisor of custodial services at Montana State University where he worked for 20 years before retiring. We are so proud of Dad for his accomplishments considering he only had an eighth grade education. What Dad lacked in formal education, he made up for in common sense and wisdom. Before becoming a supervisor, he was a logger, a car salesman, rancher/farmer, bartender and hotel manager.
Dad was always fair and level minded. He always had integrity and his word was his bond. He was slow to anger and led by example. Bill is survived by his son, Rodney (Patti) Fischer, Lawrenceburg, Ind.; daughter Cindy Fischer, Harrison, Ohio; brothers Gabe (Viola) Fischer, Savage, Leo (Carrie) Fischer, Fairview, and Ted (Terri) Fischer, Houston, Texas; sister Johanna (Curtis) Bosack, Sidney; granddaughter Crystal Fischer and kids; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents, John and Margaret; brother Joe; and sisters Cecilia Pfau and Laverne Jorgenson.
Dad, your love and wisdom will be truly missed. Your integrity and honor are bright beacons for us to follow.
Go dance and sing with Mom again-
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati. With both of Mom and Dads passing being so close together in time, a memorial service will be held at a later date in Hawaii where their remains will be scattered at sea.
