Lafferre, 86, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2009, at 1:30 a.m. at Lima Manor Nursing Home. She was born October 28, 1922, in Detroit, MI, to father, Richard Ward and mother, Evelyn (Bella) Ward. In her 20's she worked in a cafeteria in Detroit before moving to Deerfield, MI and helped her recently widowed sister raise 2 small children. On December 15, 1951, she married Warren Lafferre who passed away on April 1, 2005, after 53 years of marriage. She was a wonderful Christian wife and a lifelong homemaker. She loved her family and God. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Judy (Dave) Damaske of Lima, OH and Marilyn Larzelere of Toledo, OH; son, Larry Lafferre of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Erin, Erika, Nathan, and Andrew Damaske and Matt, Dan, Joshua, Amanda, and Jeremiah Lafferre and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Lafferre; father, Richard Ward; mother, Evelyn (Bella) Ward; sister, Mary Erb (Rickard) Bryce and brothers, Jack Erb and Glenn Ward. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 10, 2009, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Brian McManus. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Westminster, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to WTGN Radio or Lima Manor Nursing Home.
