Phillip Vollman Birth: Oct. 21, 1918 Saskatchewan, Canada Death: Nov. 9, 2002 McMinnville Yamhill County Oregon, USA News-Register, McMinnville, Oregon, November 12, 2002 A funeral for Phillip Vollman of Willamina will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Macy & Son Funeral Directors, McMinnville, with the Rev. Dennis Morley of the Willamina Christian Church officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, McMinnville. The funeral home will be open for visitation until 7 p.m. today. Mr. Vollman died Nov. 9, 2002, in Alterra Wynwood, McMinnville. He was 84. He was born Oct. 21, 1918, in Prelate, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of John and Frances Dauenhauer Vollman. He moved to the Ballston area in 1925. He worked as a child laborer on the Van Duzer Corridor project during the Depression. He later was lead herdsman for Alpenrose Dairy. He lived in Portland during World War II. He and Fay Lady were married Aug. 18, 1944, in Tigard. He moved to a farm near Willamina in 1947 and worked as the head planerman for Willamina Lumber for many years. He retired from the lumber company in 1982. Mr. Vollman loved hunting, fishing and digging for clams. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Gary Vollman of Willamina, Greg Vollman of Amity and John Vollman of Sheridan; a daughter, Phyllis Kircher of Tigard; a sister, Emily Thomas of Portland; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Vollman in 1968; a brother, Jake Vollman; two sisters, Virginia Fuhr and Barbara Ruef, and a grandson, Marcus Vollman.
