Kaufman, Garrett
of Goleta, passed away on Tuesday October 10, 2000 with his family by his side.
Garrett was born on February 1, 1925 in Morgantown, W Virginia. He served in World War II as a Corporal in the 9th Infantry Division of the US Army. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was decorated with several medals including the Purple Heart.
After the service, Garrett worked in the auto parts industry and retired after 15 years as the Purchasing Manager for Mission Linen Supply. In his retirement, Garrett enjoyed classic car restoration, fishing, gardening and spending time with his many grandchildren.
He is survived by Verletta, his wife of 48 years; his sons and daughter and their spouses from Santa Barbara county: Gary Kaufman (Lora), Bryan Kaufman (Sara), Kimberly Paul (Robert) and his daughter and spouse from Denver, CO, Pamela Voehl (John). He also leaves behind 15 beautiful grandchildren and 3 sisters: Doris Kelm of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Rehe of Morgantown, W. VA and Charlotte Patten of Glendale, AZ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Garrett Kaufman to the Veterans Memorial Building, 112 W Cabrillo Blvd., Santa Barbara, CA 93101.
In celebration of Garrett's life, a memorial service will be held at Goleta Valley Church (corner of Fairview Ave and Stow Canyon Rd.), on Saturday, October 14, 2000 at 1 PM. A graveside service will be held at the Goleta Cemetery on Monday, October 16, 2000 at 10 AM.
