Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be at the MandanUnion Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 1:00-9:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Parish Rosary/Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Eva was born on May 6, 1923 to Florian Hoff & Ottilia Hellman in Glen Ullin, ND. She was raised and educated in Flasher, ND. She married Philip C. Schaff on January 16, 1945 in Flasher, ND. Eva helped her husband farm about 8 miles north of Solen until moving to Mandan in 1980. Eva was an outgoing person, visiting whether at weddings or family events. A good game of Pinochle was always enjoyed. Eva loved traveling to many places with her husband such as Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Alaska, Mexico, East Coast and many places in the United States. Eva loved to cook, hospitality for everyone that would visit, no one would go away hungry. Apple pie, which was made out of a special recipe, German potato salad, homemade bread and choke cherryjelly were always on the menu. Her favorite color was pink and often could be seen in her choice of dress or flowers. These special memories will be cherished. Eva will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Philip; daughters, Judy (John)Haider, Solen, ND and Linda Martin, Helena, MT; sons, Roger (Julie), Bolingbrook, IL and Jim (Jeanette), New Salem, ND; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann Zins, Bismarck, ND and Minnie Zent, Seattle,WA; brother, Adam (Kathryn) Hoff, Wing, ND and sister-in-law, Elanore Hoff, Avon, MN. Eva was preceded in death by her parents; grandchild, Roger Jr.; brothers, Joe (Margaret) and John; brother-in-laws, Leander Zins and Ralph Zent.
