Birth: Jan. 9, 1829
Bavaria (Bayern), Germany
Death: Mar. 9, 1894
Rochester
Monroe County
New York, USA
Elisabetha Mary Fackler was born 9 January 1929, Godramstein, Pfalz, Bayern to Joannes Philipp Fackler and his wife, Susanna Hecker. She was the eldest of their four known children. At the age of 24, Elisabeth, as "Elise" Fackler, sailed from Le Havre on the "Vancluse", arriving at the Port of New York City on 1 June 1853. It is believed that she was traveling alone. She settled in Rochester, New York where there was already established a small, close group of German immigrants from her village and from nearby surrounding villages. One of those German immigrants was to become her husband. In 1855 or 1856, Elisabeth married Joannes "John" Ferner, who had arrived in the United States and settled in Rochester in 1852. John and Elisabeth had three sons: John Adolph, unmarried, who died in Rochester at the age of 26; Charles Philipp, unmarried, who died on a trip back to Godramstein in 1879, at the age of 21; and Theodore Henry, who lived to adulthood, married and had two sons. Elisabeth died of heart failure on 12 March 1894 at the age of 65 years, 2 months. She was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery by her two sons who had pre-deceased her.
