Description: A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 8,
2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wesley, Iowa. A scripture prayer
service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016, at St. Joseph
Catholic Church with Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. also at the church.
Interment will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Wesley, IA.
Mildred G. Martin, daughter of George W. Hildman and Sophia (Wirth)
Hildman was born July 11, 1912, at Wesley, Iowa.
On November 22, 1937 she was united in marriage to Reese Martin in Wesley.
In 1957 Mildred started baking and decorating cakes professionally. Her
hobbies were hand work-tatting and crocheting. At 67 years of age she
started oil painting, and she always enjoyed playing all kinds of card
games.
Mildred worked in Little Flower Haven in Earling, IA, and Blue Star Foods
in Council Bluffs, IA. After retiring she moved to Grand Junction, IA,
later moving to Humboldt Homes, Humboldt, IA, Maple Park Apartments in
Algona. On February 14, 2013 she moved into Algona Manor Care Center,
Algona, IA.
Mildred Gertrude Martin, died Sunday, July 3, 2016, at Manor Care Center,
Algona at the age of 103.
She is survived by two daughters; Sharlene (Earl) Jaspersen of Clear Lake,
Carol (James) Bleich of Spencer; three sons, Irwin (Judy) Martin of West
Des Moines, Louis (Trudy) Martin of Carroll and Frank (Lora) Martin of
Carroll; 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great
grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Loretta Hildman of Britt and Eleanor
Hildman of Algona, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and
friends.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reese Martin in
1980; great-grandsons, Joseph Kenney and Bradley Martin; sisters, Beatrice
(Urban) Neuroth, Rosella (Urban) Neuroth, Adella (Cyril) Kellner;
brothers, Clair Hildman, Irwin (Helen) Hildman, Leo Hildman, Aelred
"Shorty" Hildman.
