Bernice M. Vanderveen
HAVANA - Bernice M. Vanderveen, 94, of Havana, passed away at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at the Havana Healthcare Center.
She was born June 10, 1914, in rural Mason County, the daughter of Charles and Pauline Bastian Huber. She married Robert Vanderveen April 12, 1940, and he passed away May 7, 1990.
Mrs. Vanderveen was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church near Bath and St. John's Ladies Aid Society where she loved to quilt. She was a homemaker and retired teacher.
Surviving are two sons, Richard (Janice) Vanderveen of Kilbourne, IL, and Glen (Rebecca) Vanderveen of Havana; one daughter, Arlis (Randall) Bell of Havana; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Christopher Bell; two sisters, Edythe Huber and Louise Leininger; and one brother, Alvin Huber.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009, at St. John's Lutheran Church near Bath conducted by Pastor Brian Lesemann. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at her church. Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery at Havana. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
