Jack W. Lux, 79, Greensburg, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the Morning Breeze House Nursing Home in Greensburg.
Born, August 7, 1931 in Shelbyville, Indiana, he was the son of Maurice and Martha (Sanders) Lux.
He was retired from the Sales Department of Public Service of Indiana after 30 years of service. He also had farmed his entire life.
He attended St. Vincent's Catholic Elementary School and then graduated in 1950 from Shelbyville High School. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg, a 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus where he was a member of the 4th Degree, and a 50 year member of the Elks Club. He was a past member of the Decatur Co. Fair Board and the Jaycees. He was crowned "Corn Prince" at the 1947 International Hay & Grain Exposition in Chicago. He was active in 4-H and Junior leaders in his youth. He judged many 4-H electric projects at the county fairs. Jack was an avid IU Basketball and Cincinnati Reds fan.
He was married to Nancy J. Strasburger on October 8, 1955 she survives.
He is also survived by one son, Gary (Marti) Lux, Plainfield; two daughters, Suzanne (Chris) Beagle, Greensburg, Saundra (Mike) Meyer, Greensburg; one brother, Dr. Dave (Rosamond) Lux, Shelbyville; four sisters, Jan Quigley, Houston, TX, Mary Kay (Bill) Hart, Shelbyville, Diane (Jim) Wagers, Richmond, Sally Stone, Los Angeles, CA; six grandchildren, Emily and Greg Beagle, Kevin and Kelly Meyer, Aaron and Brian Lux.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Gregory J. Lux.
Visitation will be from 3-7:00 p.m. Monday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A public rosary service will be held on Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tues day, January 18, 2011 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg with Msgr. Harold Knueven officiating.
Interment will be held in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg.
