Note: Otto Hochgesang was living in Detroit,MI in 1920. He was a boarder in the household of his cousin Veronica Buechler and her husband Howard Valk. He was a laborer in a motor factory. From the Herald, Thursday, February 6, 1969: "Otto H. (Oats) Hochgesang, 68, of 1301 Mill Street, died at 9:24 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hospital of cancer. He had been employed as a cabinet maker at the Jasper Desk Company for about 37 years when forced by illness to retire. "Oats" Hochgesang was born at Jasper on Dec. 4, 1900, the son of Lawrence and Margaret Betz Hochgesang. He was a member of the K. of C. and the Izaak Walton League. Survivors include the wife, the former Leona Basch, to whom he was married at Dubois on Feb. 14, 1928; three daughters, Mrs. Linus Wagner of Ireland, Mrs. Robert Berg of Jasper and Miss Carol Sue, at home; three brothers, Edwin (Butch), Hilbert C. and Wilfred L., all of Jasper; three sisters, Mrs. George Marks and Mrs. Lorene Thieman, both of Jasper, and Mrs. Elmer (Butch) Basch of Dubois; and ten grandchildren. The funeral service will be held in St. Joseph's Church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
