CASKETBEARERS Bill Schoon Roland Schoon Lelund Schoon Harley Verhulst Chad Voji Robert Ochsner Marty Munkvold Dorothy Jean Ochsner was born on Tuesday, June 13, 1939 at Parkston, South Dakota to Henry and Lena (Mehlhaff) Schoon. She grew up on a farm east of Parkston and attended Fairview School District #9. She was baptized and confirmed by Rev. Henry Roemer. On February 22, 1959, she married Kenneth Ochsner at the Bethany Reformed Church in Scotland. Dorothy was a farm wife all her life. She was an active member of the UCC Women?s Fellowship and served as the treasurer for many years. Dorothy enjoyed cooking, baking, embroidery work, quilting, gardening and playing softball in her younger years. She also was an avid bowler most of her adult life until her health began to fail, winning numerous awards and trophies. Dorothy passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 30 days. Dorothy?s memory will be cherished by her husband, Kenneth Ochsner of Kaylor; her daughter, Beverly (Robert) Ulmer of Tabor; three sons: Mark Ochsner of Kaylor, John (Kim) Ochsner of Hartford, and Ardell (Betsy) Ochsner of Jesup, Iowa; nine grandchildren: Stephanie, Brittany, Lindsay and Scott Ulmer, and Tanya, Kyle, Zoey, Kamden and Brennan Ochsner; one sister, Darlene Schoon of Freeman; two brothers: Roger (Donna) Schoon of Whitewood and Louis (Ann) Schoon of Parkston; and her numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Kenneth Schoon, and sister-in-law, Erna Schoon.
