His headstone as St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery, aka Barrens Cemetery in Morgan Twp., Harrison County, Indiana has his age at death about 71 years old and his age on the 1840, 1850 and 1860 census records don't all add up. He was the son of Johann Michael Veiock and Maria Margareta Daussmann. He emigrated to America with his wife Caroline Simon and their 7 children in the late 1830's. According to the 1840 PA. census, the family first settled in Allegheny Co., Pittsburgh, PA., where Caroline gave birth to two more children Casper and Mary. Around 1851 they moved to Palmyra, Harrison County, Morgan Twp., Indiana. The 1860 census show Lewis and Caroline and their son Casper living in Morgan Twp. and shows he owned $400 worth of real property and $600 personal property and that he was a farmer. Lewis died four years later in 1864. He is buried at St Johns Lutheran Cemetery, aka as Barrens Cemetery.
