Raymond H. Lasher
Raymond H. Lasher, 74, of Evansville, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at McCurdy Healthcare Center.
Ray was a 1952 graduate of the University of Evansville with a degree in marketing.He worked at Radio Station WEOA in Evansville as news editor and copy writer while in college and later upon returning from military service, where he served in the United States Army and attained the rank of sergeant first class. In 1955, Ray joined the advertising department of Interstate Finance which later became CREDITHRIFT Financial Corporation and now American General Finance. In 1965, he was promoted to advertising manager and in 1975 named Director of Marketing and Public Relations. He retired in 1989 after 34 years of service. Ray was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and past president of its school board. He was past president and on the board of directors of the Catholic Education Foundation and past president and a member of the advisory board at St. Vincent's Day Care Center and a member of the Evansville Serra Club. Ray was also a member of the Evansville Advertising Club, the Freedom Festival Board, the Indiana Historical Society and Indiana Geological Society. He formerly was a member and vice president of the Evansville Jaycees and a member of the Jaycee Oldtymers. He was also a board member of the Friends and Alumni at Memorial High School.
Ray is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jean (Hunter); a daughter, Laura J. Bobeck and her husband, David of Indianapolis; a son, Gregory H. Lasher of Portland, Oregon; a sister, Doris Feldman of Huntsville, Texas; and grandsons, Hunter and Henry Bobeck.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Herbert Lasher, and a sister, Erma Lucas.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, with Father William Traylor officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, March 12, from 2 to 8 p.m., with a memorial service at 6:30 p.m., at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 First Avenue.
Visitation will continue on Saturday, March 13, from 9:30 a.m. until service time at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 600 Herndon Drive. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent's Day Care Center.
