February 22, 2004 NORTH LAWRENCE Iris M. Stites, 86, of North Lawrence, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at Doctors Hospital in Massillon, following a short illness. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville with the Rev. David Case officiating. Burial will follow at Newmans Creek Cemetery in North Lawrence. Visitation will be held at Gresser Funeral Home on Monday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. The family suggests contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Iris was born at North Lawrence on Oct. 25, 1917. She was the daughter of Carl and Mary (Devery) Cunningham. She married Leslie Stites on Oct. 23, 1980, and he died March 29, 2001. Iris was a lifelong resident of the North Lawrence area and was a graduate of Orrville High School. She was employed at the J. M. Smucker Co. for 29 years, retiring in 1980. She loved to travel, camping, fishing and cruising. She also had a great love of family and music. She was a member of Chapel of the Cross United Methodist Church at North Lawrence, the Rubber Capital Harmonica Club and the Red Hat Society. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (George) Stutz of Seville; sons, Carl Butzer of Navarre, Jim (Carolyn) Butzer of Dalton, Ray Butzer of Massillon; daughters-in-law, Caroline (Elden) Reese of Wadsworth and Barb Anderson of Akron; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn (John) Keiner of Sarahsville; and a brother, Wilbur (Katie) Cunningham of North Lawrence. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Cletus Butzer, on March 7, 1969, her brother, Albert Cunningham, and her sister, Dorothy Stutzman.
