Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Albert Leary officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. today, at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, where a St. Anthony Verein Rosary will be said at 7:45 p.m. followed by a parish vigil at 8 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Valentine was born on Oct. 19, 1911 at St. Anthony, the son of Valentine and Katherine (Bender) Renner. He was raised and educated in the area. He married Bertha Erhardt on Nov. 23, 1943 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Center. They moved to Mandan, where he was in the trucking business until 1956, when he started dairy farming. He retired in 1978 and remained on the farm until the time of his death, for he loved his farm and his cattle. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and his grandchildren. He and Bertha had been married 56 years. He is survived by his wife, Bertha; two sons, Richard and Valan; one daughter, Mary Ann Preble, all of Mandan; eight grandchildren, Nicole, Stacey, Danielle and Eric Renner, Lance and Angela Preble and Breanne and Andrew Renner; three great-grandchildren, Lee Valentine, Blake and Sydney; and two brothers, Mike, Mandan, and Ted, Dickinson. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Jacob, Nick, John, Lawrence, Tony and Frank; and two sisters, Magedline Renner and Katherine Bender.
