Obituary, Times Recorder , Zanesville, Ohio, September 13, 2005: Zanesville - Clara A. Hughes, 88, passed away at 7:52 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, at Autumn Health Care in Coshocton. Clara was born Feb. 24, 1917, in Norwich, to the late Howard and Mary Harriett O'Dessa (Garner) West. Clara and her late husband, Harold F. Hughes, were longtime resident managers of Baker's Motel. Clara was a member of the Norwich United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the UMW for many years. She was a loving wife and mother. Clara is survived by a daughter, Carol (Roger) Bradford of Warsaw; a son, Richard (Marti) Hughes of New Concord; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Hughes of Michigan; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son, Darrell Hughes; and a sister, Christine Bamfield. Also preceding her in death was a longtime companion, her cat Buddy. No calling hours will be observed. A cremation has taken place. The Snouffer Funeral Home, 1150 W. Military Road, Zanesville, has been entrusted to care for the Hughes family. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Thursday Sept. 15, 2005, at the Norwich Presbyterian Cemetery in Norwich with Pastor Tom Snyder officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to The Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care, 713 Forest Ave, Zanesville, Oh 43701; or The Hospice of Coshocton 230 S. Fourth St., Box 1284, Coshocton, Ohio 43812.
