Philipp at the age of 8 with his parents immigrated to America via the Port of Hamburg, Germany aboard the SS "Thuringia" and arrived at the Port of New York, New York on the 30th of July 1873. Philipp P BENDER married Katharina METTLER at Menno, Hutchinson County, South Dakota on the 5th of January 1888. This union was blessed with no less than 10 children.
