SEIBERT, Paul
Paul Seibert of Mount Forest, born on September 25, 1920, in Nussloch,
Germany, died of heart and lung disease on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at
Louise Marshall Hospital, Mount Forest. Beloved husband of Hilda (Baust)
Seibert for 62 years. Wonderful dad of Klaus and his wife Rhoda of Mount
Forest. Paul's parents Heinrich and Lena, and sister Elisabeth
predeceased him. Paul joined the German army in 1939, was captured in
North Africa in 1941 and spent six years in a prisoner of war camp in
Lethbridge, Alberta. After the war, he was returned home in 1947. He
studied to become a tree surgeon. Paul and Hilda were married in 1948 and
they immigrated to Canada in 1951 when Klaus was 1-1/2 years old. He
worked on a farm near Ayton for one year, at the mink ranch in Mount
Forest, and then with Reeves Construction until 1960. They bought a farm
south of Mount Forest in 1955 and started a chicken business. After his
retirement from the farm, they enjoyed going to Naples, Florida for the
winters where he enjoyed golfing. Paul was well known for his outgoing
and joyful nature and will be sadly missed by his friends and neighbours.
Visitation at the Hendrick Funeral Home will be on Thursday, September
2nd, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at St.
John's Lutheran Church, Sligo Road West, Mount Forest on Friday,
September 3rd at 2 p.m. A special thank you to Brenda and Rob Trommelen
and their family for their love and support. Heartfelt gratitude to the
nurses and doctors at Louise Marshall Hospital for their loving care. In
Paul's memory, donations to the Louise Marshall Hospital or St. John's
Lutheran Church would be appreciated by the family. "Gott mit uns"
