Epplin, age 76, of rural DuQuoin, died at his home surrounded by his family, Wednesday, July 26, 2000 at 11 : 00 a.m Leonard was born April 28, 1924 in rural Pinckneyville, the oldest child of Victor J. and Elizabeth B. (Stein) Epplin, both of whom preceded him in death. he married Verna M. Petry on June 7, 1950, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in duQuoin and she survives. Leonard worked the ground and raised his family on a farm between Pinckneyville and DuQuoin and had retired from Dunn Bros and Perry County Redi-Mix as a concrete truck driver. He was also an active member of the St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville, a member of the Teamsers Union and the Perry County Farm Bureau. Survivors include his loving wife Verna of 50 years ; three loving sons, Frederick Epplin and wife Bernadette of Radom, Maurice Epplin of DuQuoin and Vince Epplin and wife Sarah of Mt. ...Leonard was also blessed with and survived by six grandsons, Eric and Ryan Epplin, Nathan Guinzy, Benjamin Porter, Craig and Jaris Dalman, ; eleven granddaughters, Elise (Boczek) Ibendahl and husband Stephen, Jenni, Nicole and Linsey Boczek, Amanda, Meagan and Andrea Guinzy, Rebecca Porter, Jamie and Courtney Dalman and Myranda Epplin and numerous other nieces, nephews and relatives.
