Gertrude Hildegard Ehresmann was born on Friday, June 30, 1916 at Tripp, South Dakota to Ludwig and Lydia (Weisser) Guthmiller. Gertrude was united in marriage to Arnold Ehresmann on February 8, 1941. They farmed near Avon and Delmont, South Dakota. Following Arnold?s death on July 27, 1968, Gertrude moved into Tripp. She worked in the school cafeteria from 1969 until 1996. Over the years, she enjoyed the frequent visits of the children that she met through her job at the school cafeteria. She loved to garden and enjoyed the time she spent in her vegetable and flower garden. Gertrude was devoted to her family and her children and grandchildren were her life. She had a strong belief in God and watched Billy Graham faithfully. Gertrude passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Society of Tripp, having attained the age of 94 years and 28 days.

She is survived by seven children: Mavis Warner of Milford, Nebraska, Merlyn (Margot) Ehresmann of Dayton, Ohio, Myles (Cora) Ehresmann of Aberdeen, Maureen Maas of Casper, Wyoming, Myra (Mike) Virostko of Aurora, Colorado, Michael (JoAnne) Ehresmann of Groton, and Myla (Jim) Schmidt of Parkston; 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and one brother, Alvin Guthmiller of Tripp.

In addition to her parents, Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold in 1968, a daughter, Marlene Rae in 1956, a grandson, Donald Fideler, a brother, Harold Guthmiller, and three sisters, Adeline Hahn, Hattie Weiss, and Gertrude?s twin, Ruth Uecker.
