  [S927] Obituary. Bernard "Bernie" G. Roth, 71, of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at his residence after a battle with lung cancer. He was born in Zanesville on July 9, 1933, and graduated from Rosecrans High School in 1951. He was a member of FOE Aerie 2120 and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He also was actively involved for many years in the Lancaster Soap Box Derby and Lancaster Men's Chorus. He served as the service-safety director for the city of Lancaster from January 1969 to December 1972. He retired from Anchor Hocking in 1987 as a credit manager. His loving family survives him; his wife of 48 years, Lura; daughter, Stephanie (Mike) Azbell; son, Michael (Susan) Roth; son-in-law, Mike (Susan) McGee, all of Lancaster; three grandsons, Nick and Rusty Azbell and Shane Roth, many nieces and nephews; and special family friends, John and Marnie Furniss, Linda Kraft, and Jim and Kathy Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Virginia Korn Roth Zanesville; sister, Janet (Lloyd), all of Zanesville; and daughter, Lori (Roth) McGee of Lancaster. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Sheridan Funeral Home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Sheridan Funeral Home with Father Peter M. Gideon officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to FairHoPe Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 1111 East Main St., Lancaster.
