Bio: Nina Dorothy Strong, 96, of Sioux City died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at her residence following a sudden illness.Mrs. Strong was born Jan. 8, 1908, in Holly Springs, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Flora (Clift) Arnold. She was raised in Climbing Hill, Iowa, where she graduated from Climbing Hill High School in 1925. She attended Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She also attended Morningside College and earned her teaching certificate. She married Chester A. Strong on Oct. 12, 1928, in Sioux City. She had lived in the Sergeant Bluff and Salix, Iowa area. She was a homemaker and housewife from 1928 to 1942. Mr. Strong died Jan. 5, 1941, in Hot Springs, Ark. She moved to Sioux City in 1941. In 1942, she went to work for Wincharger for 16 years. She then worked for Sears for four years and for the Fabric Center for eight years. She retired when she turned 65. Survivors include two sons and their wives, Eugene N. and Sherry Strong of McCook Lake, S.D., and Arthur Chet and Cynthia Strong of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three daughters and their husbands, Rose and Donald Linduski and La Vonne and David Blutt, all of Sioux City and Janet and Fred Kruse of Chadron, Neb.; a sister and her husband, Beverly and Gary Hicks of Sloan, Iowa; 23 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Clay Glover of Sanborn, Iowa; and four sisters-in-law, Mildred Arnold of Omaha, Lola Arnold of Correctionville, Iowa, Leona Strong of Kansas, and Wilma Strong of Laurel, Neb. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Orval, Ray, Eldon and Norman Arnold; a sister, Betty Jane Glover; and a grandson, David J. Kruse. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Larkin Morningside Funeral Home, with the Rev. Alex T. Washington officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Fred Jr. and Mark Kruse, Tim and Michael Blutt, Daniel Linduski and Steven Strong.
