ZANESVILLE MAN DIES IN AUTO CRASH 
Ridge Ave Man Fatally Injured at Columbus 
David McCarty Dies in Hospital; Auto Struck Pole 
A Zanesville man was fatally injured New Years Day 
near Columbus and seven other persons, were injured, 
one critically, in traffic accidents in and near Zanesville 
over the week-end. 
Dead is David McCarty, 34 (sic), of 1317 Ridge avenue. 
McCarty died at 9:50 o'clock last night at Grant hospital 
at Columbus from injuries sustained shortly after 6 a.m. 
when his auto rammed into a utility pole on Main street 
and Hamilton road, just east of Whitehall. 
police reported that McCarty traveling east lost 
control of his machine and rammed the utility pole on the 
right side of the road. The car was demolished. 
Hospital attaches reported that death was due to a brain 
hemmorrage. 
McCarty had been employed for the past three months as 
a sales man and truck driver for the Gulf Distributing company 
here. He had previously been employed at the Mosaic Tile 
company. 
He was a veteran of World War II having served with the 
navy for more than three years. He was discharged in January 
1946. 
Surviving are his widow, Catherine, an employe in the office 
of the Ohio Bell Telephone company here; his mother, Mrs. 
Leonard Untied of Newark; a step-sister Ruth Ann Untied of 
Newark and the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Gertrude Nicowonger, 
also of Newark. 
The body was removed to the Mader-Peoples funeral home.

David McCarty, 24, of Zanesville, died in a Columbus hospital 
Sunday a few hours after his automobile hit an utility pole east 
of Columbus.

DAVID MCCARTY RITES 
Funeral Services for David McCarty, 24, of 1317 Ridge 
ave, who died Sunday after he was injured in an auto crash, 
will be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at Mader-Peoples 
funeral home. Rev. Harold E. Doyle of the Christian Union 
church in Newark will officiate, and burial will be in Memorial 
park. 
Marriage Notes for Katherine Crum and David McCarty: 
Crum-McCarty Wedding Was January 18 
In a ceremony read Saturday, Jan 18, in St. Nicholas Catholic 
church, Miss Katherine Elizabeth Crum and David A 
McCarty were united in marriage. The bride is the daughter 
of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Crum of Thornport and Mr. McCarty is 
the son of Mrs. Leonard Untied of Newark. Miss Helen Kocks 
of Columbus and Mr. Paul Crum, brother of the bride, attended 
the couple. 
The former Miss Crum chose a blue wool for her wedding 
dress. She wore a hat in matching shade, black accesssories 
and a corsage of white roses. 
Miss Kocks was attired in a two-tone frock of aqua and 
black Her accessories were black and she wore gardenias 
in corsage. 
The new Mrs. McCarty is a graduate of Summerfield high 
school and attended Bliss Business college in Columbus. 
She is employed in the district office of the Ohio Bell Telephone 
company. Mr. McCarty was graduated from Lash high school 
and served with the United States navy in World War II. 
Following a brief honeymoon Mr. and Mrs. McCarty have 
established their home at 1317 1/2 Ridge avenue.
