  [S927] Obituary. Herbert Schnabel Herbert Schnabel, 91, Mitchell, died Sunday, March 18, 2007 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday at the Grace Reformed Church, Mitchell. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00 pm Wednesday at the Grace Reformed Church with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bittner Funeral Chapel. He was born October 30, 1915 at Emery, SD to August and Albina (Mettler) Schnabel. He was baptized in 1915 and was confirmed at the Zion Reformed Church in Menno on July 5, 1931 by Rev. William Huenemann and remained a faithful member of the Reformed Church of the U.S. throughout his life. He was a member of the Hope Reformed Church in Emery and the Zion Reformed Church in Menno. On August 31, 1940 he married Elsie Sayler. They resided in Bridgewater for eleven years and moved to Mitchell in 1951. He was employed by Intercounty Electric for twenty three years. For the past thirty years he worked as a massage technician and was a member of the American Massage and Therapy Association. In 1974 he became a charter member of Grace Reformed Church in Mitchell serving on the consistory and various committees. He is survived by his three sons, Raymond and wife Juanita, Morton, IL; Dennis and wife Connie, Mitchell; Roger and wife Carol, Mitchell; eight grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, one brother, Gideon Schnabel, Rosemount, MN; one sister, Mrs. Aaron (Emma) Koerner, Freeman. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elsie on September 15, 2001, four brothers and two sisters. Memorials may be directed to the Grace Reformed Church Memorial Fund.
