  [S927] Obituary. George E. Stayer Springettsbury Township George E. Stayer, 80, died Saturday evening, September 19, 2009, of natural causes in Lancaster County. He was the husband of the late Jane (Frey) Stayer, with whom he had shared 50 years of marriage on January 26, 2002. Born December 7, 1928, in LaVerne, CA, he was the son of the late Arthur B. and Ruth A. (Fyock) Stayer. He worked as a commercial and industrial refrigeration technician with P.A. & S. Small Company, Equipment & Refrigeration, Williams Service Company, Regal Plumbing, among others. He served as a noncombatant mechanic and medical courier in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, spending some time with a MASH unit. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church of York, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, trustee and new church worker. He is survived by three sons, Jonathan R. Stayer and wife Sherry of York; Thomas A. Stayer and wife Gay of Glen Rock; and Philip A. Stayer and wife Alison of Hattiesburg, MS; twelve grandchildren, Hannah, Lydia, Maria Stayer of York; Jesse, Staci, Seth, Daniel Stayer of Glen Rock; Walker, Sumner, Ramsay, Andrew, Lillian Stayer of Hattiesburg, MS; one sister, Dorothy D. Nolt, Sylmar, CA; and three brothers, Arthur Vance Stayer, Odessa, MO; O. Wayne Stayer, Denver, PA; Lewis R. Stayer, Summerville, SC. A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, September 25, at Grace Baptist Church, 3920 East Prospect Rd., York, with Rev. Gary L. Auker officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, 650 Fritztown Rd., Sinking Spring. Viewings will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, Thursday, at John W. Keffer Funeral Home, 902 Mt. Rose Ave., York, and 9:00 to 10:00 AM, Friday, at the church.
