Lien Funeral Home Ruth Eva StugelmeyerRuth Eva Stugelmeyer (August 18, 1924 - November 13, 2011) Ruth E. Stugelmeyer, 87, Eureka, SD, died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Wishek Community Hospital, Wishek, ND. Her funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Lien-Straub Funeral Chapel, Eureka, with Pastor Ryan Gage, officiating. Interment follows at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Eureka. Vocal selections will be “How great Thou Art” and “What a friend we have in Jesus”. Closed-casket visitation will be at Lien-Straub Funeral Chapel, Eureka, from 5:00-9:00 PM Tuesday. Ruth Eva Orth, daughter of Eva (Berreth) and Henry Orth, Sr., was born August 18, 1924 near Herreid, SD. She attended rural school after which she was employed at the Eureka Pharmacy. Ruth married Harold Stugelmeyer on September 8, 1946 at Eureka. For several years, they lived on farms west of Eureka and near Artas, SD. In 1953, they settled on a farm six miles east and one mile north of Herreid. They remained on the farm until 1973 when they retired and moved into Herreid. In 1981, Ruth relocated to Eureka where she resided for 29 years. Since June 2010, she lived at the Good Samaritan Society-Herreid. She had been a member of Zion American Lutheran Church of Eureka and Peace Lutheran Church of Herreid. Ruth will be remembered for keeping a clean home and she enjoyed painting. She is survived by two sons—Jerold Stugelmeyer of Douglas, WY and Jerome (Jeanette) Stugelmeyer of Bismarck, ND; one sister-Alice Pfeiffer of Aberdeen, SD; six Grandchildren, two step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on December 2, 2000, an infant son, James (who was Jerome’s twin), five brothers, and one sister. Casketbearers will be James Ottenbacher of Eureka, Gilbert Orth of Herreid, Jason Stugelmeyer and Joel Stugelmeyer of Bismarck, Joshua Stugelmeyer of Stillwater, OK, and Mitch Bitz of Mandan, ND. Lien-Straub Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
