Their war records became mixed up and there was endless red tape involved when it became time for each of them, and their widows, to draw Civil War pension. Philip III moved back to St. Calir Co. early in the 1900's. He built a house in Marissa and later moved to New Athens where he owned and operated a coal mine which had formerly been owned by his mother's relatives. It was known as the Old Fullmer Mine. (The name Vollmer also underwent a change and part of that family were known as Fullmer.) Philip III died December 15, 1919 while at work in a Marissa mine. There were 3 people with Philip in their names. They all went by Philip, that is why I have put I, II, & III behind their names so they can be told apart. | 6913 | BIOGRAPHY: Leonard R. Fritz, formerly of Fremont, died Monday morning at his home in Lancaster. He was born on Catawba Island to the now-deceased Clarence and Mae (Scott) Fritz. He married Mickey McRobbie on April 17, 1970 and she survives. Mr. Fritz worked for Lancaster Electro Plating for 32 years. He served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1968. Surviving in addition to his loving wife are son JJ Fritz of Lancaster; stepchildren Beth Cox of Lancaster, Bobby Dickey of Genoa and Mark Dickey of Lancaster; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; brothers Norbert Fritz of Moyock, N.C., and Leroy Fritz of Lancaster; sisters Grace Williams, Marie Priddy, Kurtis Hensley and Lois Dickey, all of Fremont; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded by his older sister Katherine Viock. Mr. Fritz was cremated. Memorial service: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Kane's Restaurant, Lancaster. He got work on a farm near Royal Heights, Illinois. While working there, he met and married the hired girl, Elizabeth Smith, who had immigrated from England in 1844 and worked at the same farm. Henry Nevenner and Elizabeth Smith married in 1858 and had five children, all born in Illinois. Henry Nevenner died in 1873 and is buried at St. Philip Cemetery, East St. Louis, Illinois. Children: Casper Henry, Caroline, Mary, John, and Edward. I descend from Casper Henry, born February 27, 1859 in Caseyville and died in 1945. Casper had five children by his wife, Isabella Morton, who was born in Belleville, Illinois in 1865 and who died in 1893 in Illinois. Casper did not remarry. Dahm died Monday from injuries he sustained when he was struck by a van as he crossed Centreville Avenue. He was 56. Dahm was crossing at State Street when he was hit at 7:05 p.m. Monday. He was pronounced dead from multiple trauma at St. Elizabeth's Hospital at 7:22 p.m., according to the St. Clair County coroner's office. Belleville Police Sgt. Dennis Weisbrodt said Douglas J. Westbrook, 40, of East Alton, was traveling north on Centreville Avenue in a 2000 GMC Safari when he hit Dahm. Weisbrodt was interviewing several witnesses Tuesday. "The crash is still under investigation and pending the investigation, there are no charges," Weisbrodt said. Dahm was a welder at the Peerless-Premier Appliance Co. in Belleville for more than 20 years. He graduated from Althoff Catholic High School and Belleville Area College (now Southwestern Illinois College). He belonged to Boilermakers Union Local No. 363 and the Belleville Jaycees. Dahm is survived by 13 brothers and sisters, including Belleville West High School Principal Bob Dahm and Mary Dahm-Schell, co-owner of The Edge. Dahm was a huge sports fan who enjoyed watching football and baseball and played in fast-pitch softball leagues. He also liked to hunt and fish and play darts. Mary Dahm-Schell said her brother, who was the first son born to the late Norman and Dolores Dahm, was loyal to family and a practical joker. "He always kept abreast of the news and he could talk to anybody and debate anybody about almost any issue. That's something I always enjoyed, arguing politics," she said. Jerry Wojcik said when he married Jeanne Dahm, William Dahm pulled him aside and told him he would need a friend and ally in the family because it was so big. "He was a great guy," Wojcik said. The visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, 120 N. Illinois St. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Henry's Catholic Church, 5315 W. Mrs. Cafarelli was born on September 15, 1917 to Clem and Rose (Wohlwend) Wise. She is the third of six children in all... 3 boys and 3 girls. She was born in the historical house on Waterloo Road in St. Joseph. The farm is still owned by the chil- dren of Clem and Jean Wise. She currently lives in Tallmadge, Ohio, and has one sibling (Helen). All of the others are deceased. This was taken from the Ravenna Republican, December 19, 1918. BIOGRAPHY: BUTTERSCOTCH PUDDING Put 3 cups boiling water in a saucepan with 1 cup brown sugar 1 Tbsp. of butter a pinch of salt 1 tsp. vanilla Simmer this mixture while preparing the batter. Batter : 1 cup brown sugar 1 Tbsp. butter 1 cup flour (sift flour and baking powder together, then add) 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 cup milk 1/2 cup nuts or raisins Place hot mixture in a square baking dish. Then drop batter by spoonfuls over the liquid mixture. Bake at 400 degrees for 45-60 minutes. Here is recipe that was from Rose (Wohlwend) Wise, Mrs. Cafarelli's mother.
