Breit MAYVILLE - Dorothy Helen Breit, 85, of N11216 Highway Z, Mayville, town of LeRoy, and formerly of Knowles, died on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon (Robert) Kolterman. The funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m., at St. Luke's Ev. Lutheran Church, Knowles. The Rev. Darryl W. Kenagy will officiate. Entombment will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park, Fond du Lac. Dorothy was born on July 26, 1921, in the town of Theresa, Dodge County, the daughter of Phillip and Lydia (Gutenschwager) Schwenn. She was married to Clarence Breit on July 25, 1942, in LeRoy. Dorothy was a graduate of Mayville High School and attended Dodge County Normal School. She was employed at the Brownsville Canning Co. and Ashford Mutual Insurance Co. She was a member of St. Luke's Ev. Lutheran Church, Knowles, where Dorothy was church organist for many years. She was a member of St. Luke's Ladies Aid and Knowles Fire Department Auxiliary. Dorothy enjoyed needlework especially embroidery, gardening, music, baking and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include two children, Sharon (Robert) Kolterman, Mayville, and Harold (Kathi) Breit, Fond du Lac; one sister-in-law, Cecilia (Dan) Reen, Juneau; two brothers-in-law, Ralph Breit, Fond du Lac, and Raymond (Joanne) Breit, Knowles; two grandchildren, Laurie (Paul) Timm, Omro, and Jeff (Traci) Breit, Howards Grove; three great-grandchildren, Jason and Anja Timm and Thomas Breit; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband. Clarence; two sisters-in-law, Agnes and Helen Breit; one brother-in-law and wife, Frank (Mathilda) Breit; and one nephew, Allen Breit. Friends may call on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 9 to 11 a.m., at St. Luke's Ev. Lutheran Church, Knowles.. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Luke's or St. Agnes Hospice Hope or a charity of one's choice. Dorothy's family sincerely thanks Dr. Steele, the Hospice staff and Donna Schmidt, from Home Health Care for their wonderful help and support. | 5380 | BIOGRAPHY: Dukart, John and Jean John is the son of Jacob and Katherine Dukart and Jean is the daughter of Maurice and Gertrude Gervais of Estevan. We were married in Estevan November 27, 1945 and lived on a farm them miles northeast of Estevan. John has been active on the Estevan Rural School Board and is also on the Estevan Comprehensive School Board. He is also a member of the Estevan Knights of Columbus. Jean is with the Estevan St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary. We have five boys and two girls. Dennis was born in September 1946. He lives in Regina and has his own barbershop called "Canadiana Men's Hairstyles" on Twelfth Avenue in Regina. David was born in March 1948. In 1972 he married Joanne Highfield of Estevan. David has worked with Schindel and Bazin oil company for the last twelve years. They have two children, Jodie born in March 1974 starts school this fall. Jamie was born in December 1976. David and Joanne live in Estevan at 802 George Street. Darwin was born in August 1950. He works for the Saskatchewan Power and lives in Estevan. He worked at the Souris Valley Mine, driving a truck. Brenda was born in September 1951. In September 1974, she married James Durr, the son of Stanley and Georgina Durr of Bromhead. They have two children, Melissa born in March 1976 and Bradley born in September 1978. They live in Estevan at 1225 First Street. James is in partnership with his brother-in-law, Dale Graefer, doing construction work. Brian was born in July 1954. In 1974 he married Marie Joseph, the daughter of Bryan and Nola Joseph of Estevan at 1909 Dyer Road. They have two sons, Cory born in February 1975 starts kindergarten in September. Robbie was born in April 1979. Brian and Marie live on the farm. Brian works for his father-in-law at Bryan's Bit Service and welding. Rodney was born in 1959. He works for Schindel and Bazin oil company and lives at home. Rhonda, our youngest, was born in June 1965 and goes to school. She graduated from Junior High this spring and is going to the Comprehensive school this fall. We have around seventy- five head of Purebred Hereford cattle. Rodney and Rhonda are in 4-H. This is Rodney's last year. He has been in it for eleven years. All the other children have been in 4-H. This is our twenty-sixth year and we enjoy every minute of it. | 5381 | BIOGRAPHY: Dukart, Rochus J. and Rosa and Family by Jacob R. Dukart Rochus J. (Bob) came to Canada from Landau, southern part of Russia in the year 1911. He was underage, and his father was not living any more, so he entered on his older brother Ralph's passport. He lived with his older brothers and sister, and worked for farmers in the Kingsford, Lampman and Bienfait areas. He also worked in the old Lampman Hotel, and one year in the city of Bismark, North Dakota at various jobs. In 1921 he married Rosa Weiler, daughter of Martin and Catherine Weiler, who also came from Landau, Russia in the year 1903, and took up a homestead in the R.M. of Benson. Rochus and Rosa rented their first farm from Mr. Martin Dillman, which was located about seven miles northwest of Bienfait. In 1929 they bought the East half of 23-3-7-2- and built up a new farm where they lived and farmed until they retired to 1305 Third Street, Estevan, where Rosa still lives. Rochus was active in the Landau country church, and served on the Kingsford School Board, also became the Rural Councilor for Division four, R.M. No 5, Estevan in 1935, where he served until his death in 1967. Rochus and Rosa have one son, Jacob R. who is married to Theresa Wanner. Their children are Barbara, Joan and Jane (twins), Donald, Carole, Duane, Lauretta, Kevin, Gregory and Audrey. Their one daughter, Catherine is married to Joe M. | 5384 | BIOGRAPHY: Edward John Gehl (January 26, 1890 ? August 28, 1956) was an American jurist from Wisconsin.[1] BIOGRAPHY: Born in Hartford, Wisconsin, Gehl graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School. During World War I, he served in the United States Army. Gehl was in private practice in Hartford and then was elected a Wisconsin Circuit Court judge. In 1949, Gehl was elected to the Wisconsin Supreme Court serving until his death BIOGRAPHY: It may be said that he was as gentle as spring, loving as summer, bounteous as autumn, and yet when occasion demanded, as stern and severe as the blighted frosts of bleak December." - Justice Roland J. Steinle, Gehl's memorial service (1957) Edward John Gehl was born January 26, 1890, in Hartford, Wisconsin. He graduated from Hartford High School in 1908 and received a law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1913. Gehl was in private practice until 1917, when he volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army during World War I. There he became close friends with three other men who also became Wisconsin Supreme Court justices: Roland J. Steinle, John E. Martin, and Theodore G. Lewis. Gehl was promoted to the rank of captain and was also awarded the Purple Heart and the Silver Star. Upon discharge, he continued service in the National Guard, where he rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel. He retired in 1950. Following the war, Gehl practiced law in Hartford until 1932 and then served for two years as U.S. district attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. He was elected judge to the 13th Judicial Circuit in 1940. In 1947, he served as chair of the Wisconsin Board of Circuit Judges. Gehl was elected to the Wisconsin Supreme Court in 1949. He was the first justice elected under a 1949 law that ensured that the winner must receive a majority of the votes cast. He was well respected by his colleagues. Governor Walter J. Kohler, Jr., said of Gehl?s work on the bench: ?Justice Gehl was a dedicated public servant and an outstanding jurist whose work on the circuit and supreme benches won the respect and admiration of all who knew him.? | 5386 | BIOGRAPHY: Eleanor 'Rusty' Swanson 1925 - 2005 Eleanor 'Rusty' Swanson 1925 - 2005 ELSMORE - Eleanor S. "Rusty" Swanson, 79, Elsmore, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at her home. She was born Dec. 25, 1925, at rural Elsmore, the daughter of Harold and Ida Townsend Butts. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1943, then worked at Montgomery Ward in Chanute. She also catered wedding and anniversary receptions and was known as "The Cake Lady" in Elsmore. She was a member of Friends Home Lutheran Church, Savonburg. On June 26, 1946, she married J. Edward Swanson in rural Elsmore, where the couple managed and operated a farm. He survives. Other survivors include three sons, Jerry L. Swanson, Elsmore, Bradley J. Swanson, Winfield, and Keith A. Swanson, Olathe; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Elvin "Jiggs" Butts, a brother, Harold "Bud" Butts, and a sister, Helen Taylor. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 25, at Friends Home Lutheran Church, Savonburg, led by Pastor Kathy Sanley. Burial will be in Swedish Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 - 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home, where memorials to the church or Horizon Hospice may be left.
