He told her he wanted to play football, but I guess they didn't let 9th graders play then, so he dropped out and got a job at Woodings, at 15 years old. Then at age 16 he joined the Merchant Marines for 2 years. He came back in 1945. That is when he got drafted into the Army for about one and a half years. He came home in 1947. Mom says Dad's baptismal name was Roy Thomas John George Brown. His favorite actor was John Wayne. His very favorite movie was The Quiet Man with John Wayne. He also loved listening to music. His favorite comedian was Danny Kaye. Dad's family was very important to him. He was very close with his mother and mother-in-law. He worked at Edgewater Steel Co. in Oakmont, PA. most of his life and he liked his job. He loved walking in the rain and in the woods and loved to laugh. He was always playing some kind of practical joke on someone. He collected coins for a lot of years. Dad liked to draw. He also loved music. He was always walking around the house singing or humming. Especially if you have that much info. Near as I can tell all of my relatives are all Catholic, myself included. Martin married Maria Misser in 1873 in Seneca County. He was born in 1846 and died in 1901. His wife was born in 1851 and died in 1933 in Milan, Ohio. They had 8 children. I don't have all of the kids names, but the ones I do have are Anthony; Leo; John; Rupert and Alfred, my grandfather. According to the death certificate, Martin was born in Germany. His name is spelled wrong on the certificate. It is spelled Firestine. It was listed the same way in the 1880 census. He died of heart disease according to probate court records. Anthony was married to Edna (?maiden name) and they had 1 son named Harry, I think. Edna and Harry died in Huron, Ohio. Edna in 1977 and Harry in 1986. This is about all I know. My grandmother was Mary Feuerstein b1882 Haguenau Alsace FR and moved to Cincinnati OH 1900. Her parents were Georges Feuerstein b1859 Brumath Alsace FR and Maria Messer. Georges' father was Sabastien b1828 Gossersweiler Pfalz Bayern GE and his father was Joseph Feuerstein b ca1800 Gossersweiler. You indicated yours were probably born in Germany but that border area moved back and forth between FR and GE many times. My Feuerstein's were all Catholic. I find the name spelled various ways. Siblings of Sabastien were Magdalena, Thomas, Elizabetha, Michael, Johannes and Barbara. Any connections that you can see with yours? Sometime before 1869 he moved to Indianapolis, and there on 11 Aug 1869 he married Dora Elizabeth Schaub from Monroe County, Ohio. They had 9 children all born in Indianapolis. Indianapolis had a large German population, and German culture was thriving in the 1870's and 1880's. There were several German language newspapers, singing societies, and political clubs, plus German language insturction in the schools. The Delbrugge family lived in a working class German neighborhood, where William was a fireman and later a bartender. During WWI, as Germans faced increasing discrimination, some branches of the family americanized their name to Delbrook. Mary Esther Delbrugge Delbrugge, Mary Esther, age 92, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, a former 30 year resident of Cape Coral, Florida, died Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Park Health Center. Mary was born May 28, 1915 in Martins Ferry, Ohio daughter of the late Albert and Edna Yahn Tighe. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Delbrugge; a grandson, Matthew Berus; two brothers, Albert and Harold Tighe. Surviving are her son, William Delbrugge and his wife, Ann of Massillon, Ohio; her daughter, Joyce Berus of St. Clairsville; three grandchildren, Brent Delbrugge, Christine Jenewein and Michael Delbrugge; and four great grandchildren. Waligura, Genalda L. Waligura nee Wright Times Leader, Martins Ferry, Ohio, dated, June 2, 2007 Genelda L. Waligura, 68, of Ferry Street, Clarington, Ohio, died Friday, June 1, 2007 at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, W.Va. She was born June 1, 1939 in Clarington, the daughter of the late Edward and Laura Delbrugge Wright. She was a retired nurse for Dr. A. J. Antalis; a member of the Eastern Star Chapter #533 in Clarington; a former mayor of Clarington; and attended Immanuel United Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Wright. Survivors include her husband, Joe Waligura; two sons: Joey (Tamie) Waligura of Gig Harbor, Wash.; and David Waligura of Clarington; a daughter, Stacy Waligura of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a brother, Kent Wright of Woodsfield, Ohio; a sister, Sharon Liskanich of Powhatan Point, Ohio; four grandchildren: Jessica Waligura, David, Cloey and Matthew Dickens; and a great-grandson, Alex Waligura. Kidd, 73 Funeral services for Pauline D. Kidd, 73, of rural Bippus, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Johnâ??s United Church of Christ in Bippus. Visitation hours at Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Mrs. Kidd died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Florida. A homemaker, she was a member of St. Johnâ??s United Church of Christ in Bippus and a former member of the North Highlands Presbyterian Church in Fort Wayne. She also was a member of the Bippus Parade Committee, Huntington Garden Club and the Bippus Home Economics Club. She was born in Wheeling, W.Va., July 6, 1927, a daughter of Bernard and Geraldine White Delbrugge. Her marriage in Wheeling on Aug. 29, 1948 was to Malcolm H. Kidd, who survives. Additional survivors include a son, Thomas M. of Indianapolis; two daughters, Mrs. William (Lorna) Stephan of Huntington and Mrs. Phillip (Marcia) Douglass of Bluffton; a sister, Marion Kidd of Florida; and 10 grandchildren.
