| 23252 | Paul Michael Wegman WEGMAN, PAUL MICHAEL, age 59, passed on to his next journey in the early morning, Tuesday, August 24, 2004. With a deep love in his heart for all things theatrical, Paul advanced the development of the dramatic arts in Central Florida. There are few stages in town that didn't benefit from his presence - whether he was directing, acting or selling tickets. A true Entertainer, he performed an amazing and expansive repertoire of characters in diverse and popular plays. Paul had a fondness for Shakespeare's works, and he not only inaugurated but also performed in many seasons of the annual Shakespeare Festival. Local fans and visitors alike experienced his cutting-edge humor and lively performance art during a 25-year career with the Parliament House. Born and raised in Rochester, New York, Paul moved to Florida in the 1960's, eventually settling in Orlando. An avid reader and student, he graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Theater from University of Central Florida, after receiving his A.A. degree from Seminole Community College. He was a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at UCF. He shared his knowledge and encouraged aspiring actors through his adjunct professor position at Valencia Community College. Over the years Paul received many awards and acknowledgements from local civic, charitable and theatrical organizations. He is pre-deceased by his mother, Ethel, and is survived by his father, Jules G. Wegman, Jr.; his sister Jean Marie Totten; his brother, David; nieces Shelly L. Kadas and Julie A. Totten; and his grandnieces Rebecca Borrowman, Mikayla Kadas; and other family members. In lieu of flowers, contributions are being accepted to fund the Paul M. Wegman Scholarship Fund for Actors and may be mailed in care of W. Thomas Dyer, Attorney-at- Law, 414 N. Ferncreek Avenue, Orlando, Florida 32803. Memorial services are planned for Saturday, October 2, at Joy Metropolitan Community Church, 2351 South Ferncreek Avenue, at 2PM on Monday, October 25, at 7PM there will be a special program presented at the Margeson Theatre at the UCF Shakespeare Festival at Loch Haven Park. A tribute program will also be presented at The Parliament House, 410 N. Orange Blossom Trail on Wednesday, September 29, at 7:30PM with a "Peter Pan- like attitude" of desiring to "never grow up". He faced each day of his life with whimsy, enthusiasm, creativeness and energy. His absence will be sorrowfully felt by so many but his memory and joy shall live on with the thousands of friends, fans and fellow Artists he touched over his years. | 23259 | Per Lydia Fae Fyock: My mother was born before Nellie married Mose. I called him Granddad and he treated us as his grandchildren. I don't know who knows that he is not my blood grandfather. I understand that he adopted my mother. I don't know when and I think it is in Clearfield court house. I never put it down, as some of my mom's siblings never knew she was not his child until he died. I don't know much of what they did or didn't think about it as I was not in the room when his will was read. Some relativies do not know this. I do not know who mom's real father was. Aunt pearl told me one time for some reason, but I didn't make a big deal of it and write it down and now I don't remember. My mother told me that the fellow paid Nellie's father some money and that was it. That is the way it was done sometimes in those days. | Lydick, Effie Blanche (I145151)

| 23260 | Pesotum, Jan 29 - A pretty wedding was solemnized at 8 o'clock Tuesday morning in St. mary's Catholic Church, Crittenden, when Miss Barbara marie Rund, daughter of Will Rund, Crittenden became the bride of Joseph M. Hettinger, son of Mr and Mrs. Mike Hettinger, Pesotum. Rev. Father Zwart, pastor of the church, read the single ring ceremony in the presence of relatives and friends. The bride was attended by her sisters, Miss Christina Rund and Miss Bernadine Hettinger, sister of the bridegroom. Edwin Hettinger served as his brother's best man and Anthony Rund, groomsman. Little Eileen Hettinger and Theresa Smith were flower girls. Benjamin Rund and Michael Hettinger served as acolytes. St. Cecelia's choir sang "The Guardian Angel Mass," As the wedding march was played the bridal party entered the church, the procession being led by the flower girls. The bride was attired in a gown of white silk lace trimmed with rhinestones. Her becoming lace cap, which was wore, was caught with rhinestones and her tulle veil was full length and edged with lace. She carried a shower bouquet of white roses and sweet peas. Miss Rund wore a dress of pink taffeta trimmed with rhinestones and carried a bouquet of Spring flowers. Miss Hettinger's dress was of orchid taffeta and she also carried Spring flowers. Both wore tiaras of rhinestones and silver slippers. Eileen Hettinger wore yellow taffeta and Theresa Smith light blue taffeta and both carried baskets filled with jonquils, snap dragons and sweet peas. Following the ceremony a wedding dinner was served at the home of the bride's father to the immediate family. | 23262 | PETER BOHL., a pioneer real-estate and insurance agent, at No. 623 J street, Sacramento, is one of the most substantial citizens of the state, inheriting as he does the highest qualities of the German-American character. His father, George Bohl, was a Bavarian by birth, and came with his family to this country in the early days, settling first in Pennsylvania and afterward in Cincinnati, Ohio, where the subject of this sketch was born, October 23, 1830, the fourth of five sons and the first American born in the family. Subsequently the father moved to Brown county, near Georgetown, on a farm, where he reared his family, and finally to Covington, Ky., where he died at the advanced age of eighty-eight years. It is a conspicuous fact that a large proportion - perhaps the largest proportion ? of men who achieve success in life and born and reared upon farms, spending their early life only amid rural scenes. Mr. Bohl was twenty years of age when he left the farm and started out in commercial life for himself, engaging at Peoria, Ill., as a clerk in a mercantile house. An older brother having come to California and 1851, and located in Sacramento as a baker and afterward as a merchant, Mr. Bohl followed his example arriving February 6, 1853. Embarking on the Oregon, at Panama, he had a narrow escape from yellow fever, which prevailed on board. Arriving in San Francisco, February 5, he came at once to Sacramento, clerked a few months for his brother, and then bought an interest in a stable and hay yard on J street, between Tenth and Eleventh streets, known as the Central hay yard. Shortly afterward he purchased his brother?s interest in the bakery, and was engaged there for the period of eight years. For the next five years, he was a dealer in groceries and grain. Early in 1871 he embarked in the real-estate and insurance business, associated with the house of W. P. Coleman, the banker, and in this relation he operated up to the death of the latter in 1902, when the business was sold. Mr. Bohl has been identified with the Methodist Episcopal Church for thirty-eight years, during which time he has occupied many positions of trust and responsibility, leading in all local measures of the church for the advancement of Christianity. First, in 1867, he was elected steward and trustee; subsequently, in 1876, he was a delegate to the general conference of his church held in Baltimore, Md., during which session he also visited the Centennial Exhibition at Philadelphia; and he was an alternate to the general conference of May, 1888, held in New York City. He was active in the establishment of the Young Men?s Christian Association in Sacramento. For twenty years he held a trusteeship in the University of the Pacific at College Park, in Santa Clara county, but resigned about 1900, having been re-elected every four years. This institution of learning has grown to large proportions, so that it now contains between four and five hundred students, and has magnificent buildings, including an observatory with all its appliances. The money used for the erection of all of these magnificent buildings was donated by liberal and generous-hearted men and women. It is now the most extensive institution of Christian education of this coast. The marriage of Mr. Bohl was solemnized July 30, 1855, at Sacramento, uniting him with Miss Julia Hauck, a native of Germany. July 30, 1905, was memorable as their golden wedding anniversary, which comparatively few couples live to enjoy. Both Mr. and Mrs. Bohl are hale and hearty and have a host of friends and well-wishers. Three children blessed their union: Amelia C., who is well known in the musical world of California, now living at home; Laura J., Mrs. A.B. Plucker, of Tacoma, Wash., and Lizzie Eveline, who died at the age of eleven years, in 1885. The family residence of N street, opposite the state capitol, is one of the most commodious and tasteful homes in the city. Politically, Mr. Bohl is a Republican, though he has never taken an active part in the deliberations of his party. | 23271 | PHILLIP J. GOEHRING A successful vineyardist who is residing on his fifty-acre vineyard home, located a mile and a half southeast of Victor, is Phillip J. Goehring, a self-made man, whose success has come to him entirely through his own labor and carefully directed efforts. He was born in McIntosh County, North Dakota, on July 9, 1892, a son of John and Elizabeth (Bertsch) Goehring, the former coming to America from Neudorf, south Russia, his birthplace, and the latter a native of Bergdorf, south Russia. His father passed away in North Dakota about twenty years ago, while the mother still resides there. They were the parents of eight children: John, Jacob, Christina and Fred, Gottlieb, Phillip J., or subject, Maggie and Martin. The education of Phillip J. Goehring was limited to about five months, and he was obliged to assume his share of the farm work. Shortly after becoming of age, he began to earn his own way, and went to Idaho where he homesteaded 320 acres of land on which he raised grain and stock for four years. Mr. Goehring’s first marriage occurred while living in Idaho, on February 4, 1914, and united him with Miss Martha Bertsch. She passed away in Idaho in 1916. In January, 1917, Mr. Goehring made a trip to Lodi, California, where he was married to Miss Christine Knoll, born in Russia, a daughter of Jacob Knoll. He father came to California about fifteen years ago from South Dakota and settled at Victor, where he purchased a vineyard and had added to it from time to time until he is now one of the wealthiest citizens of San Joaquin County. After their marriage the young couple returned to Mr. Knoll’s ranch in Idaho and continued farming until the early fall of 1917, when they returned to Lodi to locate. He traded his ranch of ten acres, his present vineyard home, and since then he has added by purchase 30 acres more, and Mrs. Goehring received gift of ten acres from her father, all devoted to vineyard and alfalfa. In April, 1921, Mr. Goehring purchased forty-nine acres at the intersection of the Cherokee and Lockeford roads, which was an old almond orchard, with the exception of ten acres in prunes. Mr. Goehring decided to take out all the almond trees and planted vines, but left the prune orchard. Soon after buying this tract, he sold five acres for $2,000 per acre, which left forty-four acres, thirty of which are planted to Tokay grapes. So now he owns and operates ninety-four acres. Mr. and Mrs. Goehring are the parents of five children: Emma, Reuben, Levi, Elsie and Elmer are twins. He is a Republican in politics; he and his family are members of the First German Baptist Church of Lodi. Transcribed by V. Gerald Iaquinta. | 23277 | POPULAR YOUNG COUPLE MARRIED THIS WEEK Miss Margaret Johannes Becomes the Bride of Philip Hefter A very pretty wedding was solemnized Tuesday forenoon at St. Mathias' church at Nabob, when Miss Margaret Johannes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Johannes of Cedar Lake, became the bride of Philip Hefter, son of Mrs. Catherine Hefter of Nenno. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Lauer, and took place at 9:30 o'clock. The bride was attired in a beautiful gown of white Swiss taffeta, trimmed with pearls. She wore a long tulle veil, beautifully embroidered, which was formed into a helmet and caught with lilies of the valley. Miss Clara Johannes, a sister of the bride, and Raymond Hefter, a brother of the groom, were the attendants. Miss Johannes wore a very pretty gown of pink Japanese silk, trimmed with white lace, and a picture hat to match. She carried a bouquet of white carnations and pink sweet peas. The little Misses Dolores Bingenheimer of this city and Virginia Wenska of Detroit, Mich., both nieces of the bride, were flower girls. Both little girls wore pretty dresses of white embroidery, and carried bouquets of pink carnations and white snowballs. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents at Cedar Lake, at which a large number of relatives were entertained throughout the day. The following morning the young couple left on a wedding trip to Chicago, where they spent several days. They will be at home to their friends after June 16th, at their future home at Allenton, where the groom follows the occupation of a carpenter. The bride is very well known in this city, having spent a great deal of time here with her sister, Mrs. J. H. Bingenheimer. She was employed at the Schwiz Paper Box factory for about a year, leaving here a number of months ago, to return to her home. During her stay in Hartford, Miss Johannes made a great many friends, by whom she is well liked and respected. She is a charming young lady to meet, and makes a host of friends wherever she goes. Before coming to Hartford, Miss Johannes conducted a dressmaking establishment at Allenton, and also has many friends there, as well as in the vincinity of her home. The groom is also quite well known in Hartford, having visited here at various time. He is a highly respected, industrious young man, with a host of friends here and at home. He has followed the occupation of a carpenter for a number of years, and is considered a very reliable young man. The Press wishes to join the many friends and relatives of the happy young couple in wishing them many years of wedded happiness, and in extending heartiest congratulations. | Family (F6656)

| Kimmle, Pfarrer Heinrich Georg (I9153)

| 23287 | Probably named after her aunt Lina Knoetgen and her mother Maria. Caroline (Carrie) Trapschuh Hollander came to the United States with her parents. It took nine weeks to cross the ocean and the food ran out towards the end of the trip. She told her family that she remembered people becoming very ill on the voyage and many dying along the way. She told later generations that, to keep alive, they survived by eating potato peelings. Although only four years old when she came to America, the experience left a lasting impression on her. The family eventually settled in Milwaukee, which was considered wilderness area at the time and the city was separated into two separate communities. Carrie was acquainted with Solomon Juneau (the founder of one of the two incompatible communities) and used to tell interesting stories about him, though none of those survived her. She was a pioneer of Milwaukee and related how, when the family visited neighbors in the evening, they took a lantern with them to light the way. | Trappschuh, Karolina Maria (I218411)
