Lux, resident of Clifton Park, Lakewood, died yesterday in St. Mary's Hospital, Gallup, N. M. She had been unconscious in the hospital from injuries in an auto collision in Gallup Feb. 10. Her companion, Mrs. Lola Ann Terrill, 4592 W. 157th Street, died shortly after the accident. The women were returning from a visit to relatives of both in California. Mrs. Lux, whose home was at 17827 Lake Road, Clifton Park, Lakewood, was the former Louise Junglas of Elyria. She and her husband, the late Leo A. Lux, former president of the L. A. Lux Co. here, were married more than 40 years ago. Mrs. Lux was one of the early members of St. James' Catholic Church, Lakewood, and was deeply interested in Catholic charities. Surviving her are four children, all of whom were at her bedside at the time of her death; Leo J., jr., of Lakewood; Robert A. of Virginia; J. Howard of Reseda, Cal., and Mrs. Elizabeth L. Cavano of Bay Village.

Mr. Morrow retired from the maintenance department at Huntington Memorial Hospital in 1987 and had worked as a plumber with Mann's for many years. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. He graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1943 and served in the Army during World War II. He was born July 26, 1924, in Huntington to M. Guilford Morrow and Goldia Smith Morrow. He married Annette Karst Aug. 21, 1951, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. His wife survives. Also surviving are three sons, Daniel L. Morrow and Richard D. Robert Emmett Oswald Sr., 72, of Boonville died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, in Boonville.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Bob Duesdieker officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Thacher Funeral Home and from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church, with a wake at 7:30 p.m.
Mr. Oswald was born July 6, 1931, in Boonville to Estil and Mary Garthoffner Oswald. On Nov. 25, 1952, he married Ida Yvonne Pepper in Leavenworth, Kan., and she preceded him in death.
Mr. Oswald was a graduate of St. Peter and Paul Catholic School. He was a veteran of the Air Force. He was a farmer.
Survivors include four sons, Robert Oswald Jr. of Ottawa, Kan., Daniel Oswald Sr. of Columbia and Randall Oswald and Gregory Oswald, both of Boonville; two daughters, Mary Skelton and Melissa Spence, both of Boonville; a sister, Jeanne Blanck of Kansas City; a brother, James Oswald of Blackwater; and 17 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Oswald; a sister, Mary Lang; a brother, Estil Oswald, and a grandson, Jason Oswald. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter and Paul Catholic School.

Alberta Marie Epplin, age 90, of Pinckneyville, departed from this life on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006 at 4:38 a.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital Skilled Care Unit. Alberta was born on Nov. 19, 1915, a daughter to Albert W. and Bertha (Brand) Mohr. She married Bernard Epplin on Aug. 18, 1936 in Pinckneyville and he preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 2005. She was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville and a neighborhood quilting club. Survivors include four sons, John and Betty Epplin of Orion, Ill., Robert and Jan Epplin of Pinckneyville, Bernard and Joanie Epplin of Harrisburg, Ill., and Stephen and Marilyn Epplin of Pinckneyville; one daughter, Marilyn and Dave Crain of DuQuoin; one brother, Elmer Mohr of DuQuoin; three sisters, Helen Keiner of DuQuoin, Wilma Fischer of St. Louis, and Deloris Folkerts of St. Louis; fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister in infancy, and one brother, Richard Firman Mohr. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Brian Barker officiating. Interment will be in St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery.

Obituary of Mrs. Caroline Veiock
One of Tarentum, Pa.'s best known residents, Mrs. Caroline Veiock, 76, of 609 Third avenue, died in Allegheny Valley Hospital at 8:20 Thursday evening, March 25th. She had complained of not feeling well on Wednesday, but her illness was not considered serious until Thrusday afternoon. At 8:00 p.m. she was rushed to the hospital.
She was born in Lewisville, Ohio on May 2, 1866, but lived in Tarentum, Pa., for the past 42 years, during which time she was very active in chruch and club work. She was a member of the United Lutheran Church, Rhodes Sisterhood Dames of Malta, Imperial Council No. 68 Daughters of America, the Eleanor Mae Rebekah Lodge, and the Ladies Club of B.P.O.E. Lodge 644.
Mrs. Veiock was held in high esteem by a host of friends, to whom her passing came as a great shock. Possessed of a friendly, cheerful disposition, she was thoughtful and considerate of all with whom she came in contact.
Survivors include two sons, Frank at home, and Harry, of Marion, Indiana; four daughters, Mrs. Stella Horan, at home; Mrs. Helen Laux, of Tarentum; Mrs. Ida Perry, of Massillon, O., and Mrs. Mary Evans of Harrisburg; a brother, Charles Frank, of Bellaire, and a sister, Mrs. Hattie Menkel, of Woodsfield; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mrs. Veiock was the widow of the late George Veiock.
Funeral services were conducted at the late home at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon by Rev. John E. Shaughnesy, pastor of the United Lutheran Church. Intermemt was in Prospect cemetery.

Clayborne Malcolm Connor, 94, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti, Mo.
Born Oct. 18, 1910, in Derby, Ind., son of the late Millard Hugh and Mary Jane Mosby Connor, he worked at Dillman's Auto Parts and later became owner. He was a volunteer Caruthersville fireman and a member of the Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church.
On May 17, 1930, he married Willie Ann Huntley, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include one son, Clay M. Connor Jr. and wife, Dorothy, of Dunedin, Fla.; two daughters, Marilyn Akerhielm and husband, Ron, of Spokane, Wash., and Linda Stetson and husband, Stephen, of Pascola, Mo.; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti, Mo., with the Rev. Mike Hargraves officiating.
Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Aaron, Connor and Michael Stetson, James Coursey, Scott Layfield and James Mott.

23065 OBITUARY: Daily Tribune, Johnstown, Pa, October 1, 1917: Paul Kuhns Dead At Home In Moxham; Veteran of Civil War Expired This Morning of a Complication of Diseases: Paul Kuhns, a veteran of the Civil War, died at 7:45 o'clock last evening at the Kuhns residence, 635 Coleman Avenue, Seventeenth Ward, after an illness lasting about a fortnight, in his 84th year. Mr. Kuhns' health had been impaired for about three years, but was able to be about until September 16, when he took his bed. His death was due to a complication of diseases. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon from the Village Street United Evangelical Church of which the deceased was a communicant. The services will be conducted at 2 o'clock by the pastor, the Rev. C.D. Slagle. Six of the grandsons of the deceased, Messrs. Emanuel Seese, of Ogletown; Alonzo Shaffer, of Rummel; Curtis Kuhns, of Trauger; Walter Kuhns, of Greensburg; and John McDonald and Curtis Shaffer, of this city, will act as pallbearers. The services will be in charge of the officers of Emory Fisher Post, No. 30, Grand Army of the Republic. The deceased was a son of George and Elizabeth (Berkey) Kuhns and was born at Dibertsville, Somerset County, in the fall of 1833. Paul Kuhns was a brother of Daniel Kuhns, of Uniontown, a veteran of the Civil War, and Peter Kuhns, of Luxor, Westmoreland County; George Kuhns, another brother of the deceased, served in one of the companies that went out from Ligonier in 1862. He was wounded during an engagement in the South and a few weeks later died at his home in Ligonier. Mrs. Rebecca Livingston, of Uniontown; and Mrs. Tillie Sible, of Greensburg, are sisters of Paul Kuhns. Paul Kuhns was married twice the first time at Scalp Level to Hannah Custer. She died near Dixonville, Indiana County, in the fall of 1878. His second wife was Mrs. Elizabeth Barnhart, of Somerset County. She survives him, together with these children: Elizabeth, wife of Melker Shaffer, of Rummel; Mary A., wife of Joseph Seese, of Ogletown; George Kuhns, of Trauger; William S. Kuhns, of Greensburg; Annie, wife of Russell Shaffer, of Johnstown; Amanda, wife of John Ott, of 635 Coleman Avenue. Besides these, he is survived by 40 grandchildren and 67 great grand children. The deceased was a farmer for many years. He was working for Jonas Weaver near Scalp Level when he enlisted in Company G, 46th Regiment P.V.I. In 1871 he moved to Indiana County where he remained until 1889, at which time he came to Johnstown to work for the Lorain Steel Company. After severing his connection with the Moxham concern he worked for a number of years in the city's street department. Mr. Kuhns was one of the charter members of the Village Street UE Church, was identified with the men's Bible Class in the Sunday school, and was a member of Emory Fisher Post, No. 30, G.A.R.

He was a son of Andrew and Sarah Shaffer, both deceased, and had been a resident of Windber for many years. Edward Thomas Hecker, 85, of Springfield, has died of cancer.
Born in Dickinson, N.D., to Leonard and Eugenia (Loran) Hecker, he married Elizabeth Schaaf on Oct. 24, 1939, in Bowman, N.D.
He spent his childhood in Dickinson, Hettinger and Reeder, N.D. He played the saxophone and clarinet in a family band. He moved to Oregon in 1939 and to Springfield in 1940.
He worked for Springfield Plywood and Georgia Pacific for 38 years. He retired in 1981 from Georgia Pacific.
He was a wood craftsman, making furniture and building houses. He enjoyed nature, camping, fishing, hunting and traveling with his family. His favorite pastime was working crossword puzzles and raising ring-necked doves, Japanese quail and chukars.
He was a former member of Knights of Columbus and St. Alice Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; three sons: Marvin Hecker (and his wife, Linda) and Edward Hecker (and his wife, Betsy), all of Springfield, and Marvin Hecker (and his wife, Katie) of Eugene; two daughters: Mary Hilsendager (and her husband, Anthony) of Eugene and Darlene Jacobucci of Canby; three sisters: Tillie Schaaf of Port Orchard, Wash., Catherine Clements of Springfield and Annamarie Kromarek of Belt, Mont; as well as 21 grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Janice Hecker, died in infancy in 1942.
The funeral mass and recitation of the rosary was held on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at St. Alice Catholic Church. Buell Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Age 14, of Idleyld Park, Oregon, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2005, as the result of a tragic ATV accident at Toketee Falls east of Roseburg, Oregon. She was born on March 22, 1991, in Gillette, Wyoming, and attended the Paint Brush Grade School and Sage Valley Junior High School in Gillette. She moved to Idleyld Park a year and a half ago and was a freshman at Glide High School in Glide, Oregon. Erica was a people person who treasured her friends and family. She was a girl who was true to herself and loved life. She also loved to laugh. Erica enjoyed the outdoors and woodworking. She had been a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in Gillette as well as the 4H Club. She was deeply loved and will never be forgotten. Erica leaves her mother, Joyce Donnell and her husband, Joe of Idleyld Park; her father, Richard Goetz and his wife, Dalene of Gillette; four sisters, Amanda Goetz of Gillette; Julia Donnell of Idleyld Park; Cindy Donnell of Seattle, Washington; Katie Donnell of Oakland, California; three brothers, Kris and Kody Rathai, both of Gillette; and Obie Donnell of Thorton, Colorado; grandparents, Victor Goetz of Richardson, North Dakota; Rochelle Eichenberger and her husband, Russ of Pine Haven, Wyoming; and Clif Ritchie of Gillette, also survive her. 23074 OBITUARY: From the Huntington Herald Press Online, May 17, 2000 John O. Miller, 73, Decatur, died at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday (May 16, 2000) at the Adams County Memorial Hospital. Death followed an extended illness. Mr. Miller was retired from the Schafer Glove Co., where he was a leather cutter. He had also been employed as a truck driver by Shafer Hardware. He was an Army veteran of World War II, attaining the rank of Private First Class in the European Theater of Operations. He was a member of American Legion Post 43. Mr. Miller was born April 30, 1927, in Adams County, to Otto Miller and Rose Spangler Miller. He married Alice E. Eisenhauer in May 1949. His wife died Feb. 9. Survivors include two sons, James Miller, Las Vegas, Nev., and Nick Miller, Decatur; a daughter, Christene Miller, Bluffton; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Vera Burnett, Monroeville, and Sister Rose Andrea Miller, Plymouth. OBITUARY: HEFT, George Arthur George Arthur Heft, 77, of Parker Hill Rd., Killingworth, beloved husband of the late Jean Duffy Heft, died Saturday, (July 31, 2004) at Conn. Hospice, Branford after a long, hard, battle with cancer. He was born in Middletown on July 20, 1927, son of the late John and Edith (Sypher) Heft, and was a resident of Killingworth for over 50 years. He married Jean Duffy on Sept 30, 1950. George was an Army veteran of World War II, and was a Charter member of the Killingworth V.F.W. Post 9920, and served as its Commander for 18 years. He was also a member of the Killlingworth Volunteer Fire Dept, troop leader and mentor in the 4-H Organization. He gave his service to the public and business community as a Mason, and his service to every Killingworth resident, and to the memory of all fallen U.S. Servicemen and women, through the organization and stewardship of Killingworth's Annual Memorial Day Parade and Commemoration. This was so stated by the Board of Selectmen of Killingworth, by proclaiming September l, 2003, to be a day of recognition for George Heft; Patriot, Husband, Father and Friend. George is survived by his three children and their spouses: Thomas and Trudi Heft of Wallingford, Donald and Shelly Heft of East Windsor, and Nancy and Dennis Beckwith of Clinton; and his seven grandchildren: Todd and his wife Crystal Heft, Lindsay Heft, Stephanie Heft, Allison Heft, Timothy Beckwith, Tyler Heft and Daniel Beckwith. He also leaves his two brothers: John Heft of Killingworth, Louis Heft of Chester; and three sisters: Evelyn Messier of Killingworth, Doris Kurze of Deep River and Helen Wettish of Meriden. In addition, he leaves many nieces, nephews, and friends as well as two special, loving, and devoted friends, Dot Goss and Phyllis Brault. A gathering will be held on Wed., Aug. 4, from 5-7 p.m. at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook, with a memorial service on Thur., Aug. 5, at 11 a.m. at the Killingworth Congregational Church, 273 Rte. 81, Killingworth. He was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Parish and St. Peterbs Cathedral Parish, where he served as an usher for over 20 years. Paul was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Belleville Council 1028. He was a member of the St. Clair County Democratic Party; the Illinois Treasurers Association; and the Catholic War Veterans Post 370. Mr. Haas was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran.

He was born April 26, 1924, in Ansted, W. Va., to the late Roy Lee and Lillian Nunery Dempsey. He was a veteran of WWII, where he was a prisoner of war for six months in Germany. He was missionary in Brazil, Jamaica and Puerto Rico. He was a foreman with Westinghouse Refrigeration, retiring after 15 years of service. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church.

Her husband, Wilbert "Webb" Allison, preceded her in death along with three brothers, Edward Reight, James "Butch" Reight and Kenneth "Pete" Reight.
Two sons, John R. Martin at home and Dennis J. Martin and his wife Jodie of East Liverpool, survive her.
Four sisters, Betty Lovern of Massillon, Ohio, Helen Christen of Calcutta and Freda Tomlison and Shirley Shaw, both of East Liverpool, and a brother, Robert Reight of Akron, Ohio, survive.
There are three grandchildren, Dennis, Steve and Karen Martin.

OBITUARY: Leona A. Toennies, 87, of Albers, IL died on Sunday, June 12, 2005, at St. Joseph Hospital, Breese, IL. She was born on August 22, 1917, in Damiansville, IL, daughter of George and Mary (Luepke) Wobbe. She married Martin H. Toennies on September 6, 1937, in Damiansville, IL and he preceded her in death on July 13, 1991. She is survived by two sons, Dennis Toennies and wife Patricia, of Albers, IL, and Ronald Toennies and wife Susan of Aviston, IL; two daughters, Darlene Billhartz and husband Daniel of New Baden, IL and Marilyn R. Toennies of Germantown, IL; eight grandchildren, Penny Etter and husband Craig, Kimberly Skrob and husband Scott, Curtis Toennies and wife Crissy, Deron Toennies and wife Andrea, Lynn Maue and husband Bob, Mark Billhartz and wife Lynn, Michael Billhartz, and Rhonda O?Brien and husband Mike; 15 great-grandchildren, one due August 2005; and one step great- grandchild; one brother, Louis Wobbe and wife Angela of Damiansville, IL; four sisters, Marie Breiner of Damiansville, IL, Florence French and husband Durrel of Belleville, IL, Estelle Stempel of New Baden, IL and Verena Haake of Germantown, IL. Mrs. Toennies was a homemaker and she loved playing bingo, cards and she was an avid quilter. She was a member of St. Bernard Parish and Ladies Sodality and the American Legion Post 1026 Auxiliary. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers, IL with Msgr. Donald Eichenseer officiating. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Albers, IL. Friends may call after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Hempen Funeral Home in Albers, IL. There will be a prayer service at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and the rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Leonard W. Mellecker of Louisville died of natural causes Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, in Boulder. He was 95.
Born Oct. 17, 1908, in Johnson County, Iowa, he was the son of Joseph W. Mellecker and Magdalen Birrer Mellecker. He married Louella E. Saindon on Jan. 9, 1936, in Grainfield, Kan.
Mr. Mellecker moved to Boulder from Kansas in 1936, then to Louisville in 1946.
He was a carpenter for 40 years, and retired in 1973.
Mr. Mellecker was a member of the Carpenters Union and St. Louis Catholic parish.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and making toys and gifts for the family.
"He was a gentleman and a gentle man. A great role model for all his children and grandchildren. He will be missed," his family said.
Survivors include his wife of Louisville; four sons, Leroy Mellecker of Arvada, Richard Mellecker of Henderson, Nev., Kenneth Mellecker of Lander, Wyo., and Carl Mellecker of Dannebrog, Neb.; three daughters, Juanita Fischer of Fox Island, Wash., Norma J. Varra of Como and Linda Lovato of Gilbert, Ariz.; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Duane Mellecker; a grandson, Marty Mellecker; eight brothers; and one sister.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Darrell Howe Chapel, 1701 W. South Boulder Road, Lafayette.
A Mass of Christian burialwill be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Louis Catholic Church, 902 Grant Ave., Louisville. The Rev. Henri Tshibambe will officiate. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Park, 3016 Kalmia Ave., Boulder.

23099 OBITUARY: LeVernne B. Slagle LeVernne B. Slagle, age 87, of Massillon, died Monday, November 14, 2005, at Doctors Hospital. He was born March 6, 1918 in Bucyrus, OH, son of the late Milford G. Slagle and the late Olive (Ballou) Slagle. Mr. Slagle owned and operated Reliable Heating and Cooling from 1959 to 1998. He was a veteran and served in the Army Infantry 220th Field Battalion 44th Division during World War II. He was a 1939 graduate of Ohio State University. Many of his friends will remember him for his service and volunteer work with Noon Optimist, Massillon Senior Center, Massillon Girls and Boys Club, and Massillon Public Library. He was a former member of NAACP, American Civil Liberties Union, and was past president of the Massillon Urban League. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Dorothy (Hassel) Slagle; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Maude Slagle all of Massillon; daughter and son-in-law, Noreen and Larry Green of Stuart, FL; step- daughter, Mindi Berg and stepdaughter and son-in-law, Richelle and Brad Laipply, all of Massillon; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Emily Slagle of Marion, OH; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn L. (Glasgow) Slagle who died August 9, 1990, and a sister Lucille Cole.
