In Köln promovierte er 1959 bei Wilhelm Emrich über die Lyrik Paul Celans. Nach der Promotion und dem anschließenden Referendariat war er fünf Jahre lang als Studienrat an einem Gymnasium in Köln tätig, daraufhin wurde er Assistent an der Pädagogischen Hochschule Rheinland in Aachen. 1970 folgte er dem Ruf als Professor für französische Sprache und Literatur an die Pädagogische Hochschule Ludwigsburg. Seit 1999 ist Firges im Ruhestand. Jean Firges absolvierte 1997/98 eine Ausbildung in systemischer Therapie. 1997 gründete er den literarischen und wissenschaftlichen Sonnenberg Verlag in Annweiler am Trifels. Forschungsschwerpunkt Celan Seit 1957 befasste sich Firges mit dem Werk Celans. Damals waren gerade die ersten beiden Bände des Dichters erschienen, „Mohn und Gedächtnis“ und „Von Schwelle zu Schwelle“. In diesem Jahr lernte Firges auch Celan bei einem Besuch in Paris persönlich kennen. 1959 schrieb er bei Wilhelm Emrich seine Dissertation, die erste in Deutschland zu Celan verfasste. Er beschäftigte sich auch weiterhin forschend mit den Gedichten Celans und mit der Sekundärliteratur; seit 1989 publizierte er selber wieder über ihn. Zuletzt veröffentlichte er 2011, im Rahmen einer ausführlichen Biografie des Dichters, mit Schwarze Sonne Schwermut ein Buch über Celans fortschreitende psychische Erkrankung. She attended Bosse High School [1997?] and Indiana School for the Deaf. She had previously worked at Sonic for several years. She loved reading, poetry, astronomy and her cats. Jennifer was a beautiful beloved mother, daughter and sister. Her children were the absolute pride, joy, and love of her life. She was deeply loved by her family and will be dearly missed. Jennifer was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Eugene Folz and Donald MacGregor. Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Janissa Marie Folz; her son, Jaden Michael Charles Folz; her parents, Larry and Janice (MacGregor) Folz; her sister, Kristina Folz Durbin; brother, Ronald Folz and grandmother, Flo Ellen MacGregor, all of Evansville. | 21999 | Jimmie H. Stimpert, age 71, of Lewisville, Ohio died Thursday May 12, 2011 under the excellent and compassionate care of Barnesville Hospital. He was born on Sept. 8, 1939 in Monroe County, a son of the late George and Zelda Feiber Stimpert. He was a baptized member of the Woodsfield Church of Christ. He was a self-employed timber cutter and owner of Lewisville Hardwood. Whenever he cut a tree, it fell precisely where he wanted it to fall. He was an avid gardener and hunter and loved the outdoors. He loved to joke and laugh with family and friends. He was a great husband, father and grandfather. Surviving are his wife, Mary Brown Stimpert, whom he married on Dec. 31, 1963; two daughters; Mary Jo (Rick) Westfall and Linda (Tony) Baker, and one son, Doug Stimpert, all of Lewisville; one sister, Patricia (Dave) Snyder of Canton; three brothers, Ron (Betty M.) Stimpert, Dan (Betty E.) Stimpert, of Lewisville and Phillip Stimpert of Louisville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Ben and Rachel Westfall, and Kyra and Derek Baker, all of Lewisville; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Marjorie Bishop, Jacqueline Simmons, Georgiann Kibler and Vonna King; and two brothers, Robert Stimpert and Jerry Stimpert. Friends received from 1 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 2 p.m. Tuesday May 17, 2011 at the Woodsfield Church of Christ, 860 Lewisville Road, Woodsfield, Ohio with Minister Chuck Schultheisz officiating. | 22000 | Joan Mandery Passed away August 24, 2007 Joan M. Mandery (Grandma J) 72, Lincoln, NE (formally of Watertown, SD) died suddenly Thursday August 23, 2007 at her home of a heart attack. Joan was born November 24, 1934 in Aberdeen, SD to Harold and Stella (VanOrnem) Williams. She attended schools in Aberdeen and graduated in 1952. After high school, she married Jerry Mandery. She later married Reo Mandery in 1961.Joan spent many years working at Memorial Hospital. She was also active in the community doing things such as PTA President, Director of Girl Scouts, and a social worker at the S.D.S.U. Extension office. She purchased the Palace Of Sweets in 1974. She became the activity director of Prairie Lakes Nursing Home in 1976. In her later years, Joan was involved with the Green Thumb Program as the coordinator. She was also involved in the Red Cross as well as local blood drives. She also volunteered for the 2004 Republican Party.In April of 2006, Joan moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. Joan enjoyed her grandchildren, reading, crossword puzzles, embroidering and gardening and most of all Mr. Kitty, her loyal furry companion. Visitation: Cremation. No visitation. Service: A celebration of Joan?s life will be held at Crawford Funeral Chapel, Wednesday August 29th at 2 p.m. in Watertown, South Dakota. A service will be held in Lincoln at a later date.
