The following is a brief outline of what is known of the Lambertus family who emmigrated from the Queich valley area of southern of Germany to Canada and the United States. If your surname is Lambertus, Laumbattis or Lumbatis, you may belong to this family.
Places of historical intrest are: Baerenbrunnerhof, Dimbach, Oberschlettenbach, Hinterweidenthal, Vorderweidenthal, Annweiler and Bindersbach, all in Pfalz,Germany.
In the U.S.A. the family first appeared in Lewisville,Ohio; Marrissa,Illinois; and Lanesville,Indiana.
In Canada, the family first appeared in Perth and Waterloo Counties, and then moved to Bruce County in the 1860's.
Generation 1
Mattheus
The earliest known ancestor was Mattheus Lambertus (Mattheus Lampert, Matthias Lambrecht)
Mattheus Lambertus was born circa 1694. Sometime after 1732 Mattheus, who was a carpenter, came to live in Vorderveidenthal, Pfalz, Bayern. Nothing is known of Mattheus' life before this!
Generation 2

Mattheus had a son Johann George Lampertus
Johann George Lampertus (Lampert) was born in 1723. George was occupied as a swine herder and day labourer at Baerenbrunnerhof. In 1747 he married Catharina Sophia Friedel who was the daughter of the blacksmith in the area of Oberschlettenbach. Generation 3
Johannes Michael Lambertus
George and Catharine Sophias first son was Johannes Michael Lambertus
Johannes Michael Lambertus (b.1747) married Eva Emmler and raised his family in Bindersbach. At some unknown point in time, the Bindersbach family became Catholic. Some of Michaels descendants came to Canada and the U.S.A. Michael and Eva Emmler had, at least, 7 children. They were: i)Catharine (b1775), Maria Eva (b.1778), Thomas (b.1780), Mauritio (b.1782), Margaretha (b.1788), Elisabeth (b.1789), and Phillip (b.1851).
Johann Adam - The Lewisville, Ohio Line.
The third son of George, Johann Adam Lambertus was born in Baerenbrunnerhof, Germany on December 12, 1759. He married Anna Maria Broedel 1788 in Wilgartsweisen. Adam and Anna, who lived in Hinterweidenthal, had the following children: George Jacob (1790), Johann Heinrich (1792), Johann Adam (1796-1800), and George Jacob (1799). Some of these children, and their descendants emmigrated to America. The oldest son, George Jacob(1790) married Elisabetha Dietz and had 3 children, that we know of; Michael(1814), Katharina(1816-1849), and Elisabetha(1819). Katharina married Leonhart Kipper, in Ohio, and had three children before she died in 1849. George Jacob (1799) married Magdelina Bott February 10, 1828 in Hinterweidenthal. Jacob and Magdelina had the following children: Elisabeth (1825), Johann Jacob (1828-1834), George Heinrich (1834), and Johann Jacob (1837). Records from Lewisville, Monroe County, Ohio indicate that Jacob and Magdelina landed in New York, July 1841. One other descendant associated with this family may also be found in Lewisville. Although George Lumbattis is said to have been born 'on the Atlantic Ocean' June 15, 1833,I beleive that this George is George Heinrich, the second son of George Jacob and Magdelena Bott. You can find a link to John W Lumbatis' genealogy pages by following the 'Lambertus Links' Johann Heinrich(1792) married Elisabetha Kuewert on February 18, 1818 in Hinterweidenthal. Henry and Elisabeth had the following children: Eva Catharine (1820), Philippina (1826), and Anna Maria (1829). We beleive that this family landed in Baltimore in the year 1833. It's possible that they may also be found in the Lewisville records.

Another of Johann George and Catharine Freidels' sons, Johann George II, was born 1766 in Oberschlettenbach, Pfalz, Bayern. George II married Elisabeh Dietz and had the following children: Catharine Elisabeth (1791), Johann Conrad (1796), Maria Catharina (1798), and Johann George III (1803) At least one of these children (George III) came to the new world.Johann George III was born in 1803 in Oberschlettenbach, Pfalz, Bayern, and died 1866 in Lanesville, Indianna.
