At the saloon you could buy a beer and get a free sandwich. Maggie (Margaret) and Ida both cooked there. Eugene listed his occupation as "Teamster" on his marriage license. Eugene was 25 years old when he married Maggie. Eugene died of hemophilic hemorage on December 12, 1916 at St. Mary's Hospital. The result of an appendectomy. | 16705 | Harley and Carol Kirschenmann Date: 2012-02-08 Comments: Perhaps this can be added to the web site: John Kirschenmann was born on December 23, 1879 in Kassel, South Russia to Christian and Philipina (Walz) Kirschenmann. Christian was born on August 15, 1851 and he died June 27, 1928. His wife, Philipina was born May 3, 1852 and she died November 23, 1934. John came to this country with his parents when he was 4 years old. It was a long journey across the ocean and many people got sick and died. They brought whatever belongings they could bring. His mother was able to bring her spinning wheel, from which she made all their clothes. They landed in New York in 1883. From there they traveled to the Menno, SD area and stayed there for 1 year. In 1884 they settled on a farm 2 miles north of Hosmer, SD. They built a sod house there and began working the land. John lived with his parents until he married Christina Kurle on December 16, 1902. Christina was born April 6, 1883. They moved to a farm northwest of Roscoe, SD and in 1906 they bought the Frank Boldt farm 2 ½ miles southeast of Hosmer, SD where they lived and raised their family. | Kirschenmann, Johannes (I173712)

| 16708 | Harold was born in 1906, graduated from Woodsfield High School and went west, finally settled in Oklahoma, then Texas. Married Myrtle Davis who had been married and had a son before a divorce. Harold went into the service in World War ll when he was 36, in the Air Corps, as he had a private pilots license. Was sent to Africa, went on missions over Europe, oil fields, etc., and his plane went down in the Adriatic Sea , beside Italy. One man was killed, Harold was wounded, counted as missing for awhile as he was in an English Hospital in Italy - then reported as alive when he was sent back to Africa. He was sent to Florida to a convalescent hospital and later discharged. He and Myrtle have no children, living near Livingston, Texas, her home town, and he is retired from Shell Oil Company where he worked as a stationary engineer on their pumping stations. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Angeline Carpenter; five sisters, Mrs. George Distler, Lewisville, Miss Golda Morris, Summerfield, Mrs. Ada Reed, Akron and Mrs. Rose Miracle and Mrs. Mary Denbow, both of Byesville; and three brothers, Henry and Homer, Summerfield and Wilburt, Byesville. The body was removed to the Herlan Funeral Home and will be taken to the residence Thursday evening. Services will be conducted Saturday at 2 P.M. at the Assembly of God Church by Rev. Rice Snider. Hartman, 29, formerly of Fulda in Noble county, has been missing in Italy since Jan 26., according to word received by his brother, William Hartman of 46 Green street. Serving overseas for the past year, he was attached to an infantry division. Pfc. Hartman entered the service in June 1942 and prior to that time worked on the farm of his late father, Frank Hartman of Fulda, near Caldwell. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic church at Fulda. In addition to his brother, he has four sisters, Miss Emma Hartman of Green street, Sister Eustace of Rochester, Pa., Sister Anna of Holy Trinity, Pa., and Sister M. Frances of Braddock, Pa. The following appeared in the "In the Service" column of The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on June 22, 1945: Pfc. John B. Hartman of 46 Green street, prisoner of the Germans for 16 months, arrived home Saturday to spend a 69-day furlough. He arrived in the country June 11. Pfc. Hartman, who was attached to the 81st m, m, motor group, 36th division, 141 Infantry of the Fifth Army, was taken prisoner Jan. 2, 1944, at Casino, Italy. He was liberated on May 3 from Stalag 2-B, but had been at Stalag 4-B for sometime. Overseas since April 1, 1943, Hartman was in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany. He participated in the invasion of Italy, and wears two battle stars on his service ribbon. Hartman will report to Miami Beach, Fla., on Aug. 26, at the end of his furlough. He is now visiting his brother William Hartman, and sister, Miss Emma Hartman. Before entering the service on June 1, 1942, Pfc. He then spent two years in learning the coachmaker's trade with Frederick Becker of Catasiuqua. In 1871 he moved to Allentown and engaged in carriage-making with Wolf & Neligh, on North Seventh Street. Later the business was extended on South Seventh Street as Neligh & Newhard. Mr. Neligh subsequently sold his interest in the business and moved to West Point, Nebraska. Meanwhile, Mr. Newhard engaged in the livery business on North Hall Street, and since 1898 had been located on North Church Street, where he stabled 35 horses. He was the oldest liveryman in the city and did the largest business His stables have renovated and were models of neatness, with all modern appliances of the day. He was a member of Jordan Lodge, No. 673, F.&A.M., Allentown Lodge of Elks, Knights of Malta, Knights of Pythias, Knights of the Golden Eagle, Knights of the Mystic Chain, Jr. O.U.A.M., and of Salem Reformed Church. Noll of 1559 Hickory street and Richard Wymer, son of Mrs. Frank Yerman of Linden avenue and the late Ernest Wymer. Rev. Fr. Francis Schweitzer officiated. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of brocaded ivory taffeta cut with sweetheart neckline and long sleeves ending in points over the hands. Her ivory veil was fastened to a Juliet cap decorated with a wreath of orange blossoms. Her jewelry was a locket of sapphires and pearls which had been worn by her mother at her wedding, and she carried a white prayer book topped with split white carnations. Miss Mary Lou Noll, who served as her sister's maid of honor, was attired in a gown of pink organza with a V neckline and a bustle back. Her fingertip veil fell from a blue Juliet cap. She carried a colonial bouquet of pink and white carnations tied with pink and blue ribbon. Miss Mary Ann Hemmer and Miss Dorothy Noll, another sister of the bride, were the bridesmaids. They were dressed in frocks fashioned like the maid of honor's one in pink, and one in blue. Their fingertip veils and Juliet caps were of matching material and they carried bouquets like the maid of honor's. Joseph C. Worstall was the best man. John Stubbs and John Heffner were ushers. Mrs. Noll, mother of the bride, had chosen a brown crepe dress while the bridegroom's mother wore black crepe. Both wore corsages of yellow carnations tied with ribbons to match their dresses. Following the wedding the bride's parents were hosts t a breakfast at the YWCA for 21 guests. Reception aides were Dorothy E. Colopy and Miss Eva Bozman. For going away, the new Mrs. Wymer donned a Lillie Ann original dressmaker suit of brown gabardine and a Kelly green coat with tuxedo front of muskrat. She wore the flowers from her bridal bouquet. Following their return from a wedding trip to Cincinnati, they will live in the Virginia apartments, 122 Main street. The former Miss Noll was graduated from St. Nicholas school and is a member of that church. She belongs to the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality of the church and is employed as a supervisor for the Ohio Bell Telephone Company. Mr. Wymer is also a graduate of St. Nicholas school and is a member of St. Thomas Church. He is employed as Huffman's Clock restaurant. | Family (F94377)
