    Notes:

The following information was written by Jay Weirich Bresock:

My father died six months before I was born leaving my mother with her own family and the family by his first wife. We were all kept together for about five years; Tillie taking care of the house as my mother worked out and the other children also as they became old enough. Later the older ones began to work away from home and earn their own way. My brothers and I were put out with families who were friends of my mother. We worked for our keep and in this way were all separated and lost contact with each other; especially the older ones. I lived with a Smith family at Wellsburg until I was about 14, then we three boys with our mother moved to Washington, Pennsylvania where we worked in the glass factory. Mother kept house for us for three years.

She then married a man named Morris. I was 17 at this time. I then went to California. This was in 1906. In 1909 I married Mary Ella Jackson at Sacramento, California. She was a Wellsburg girl and we lived at Woodland, California until 1913. She wanted to go back home on a visit. She did, but never returned to California. To us were born the following children. She took them with her.

Ethel May Bresock - Born January 20, 1910 at Woodland, California. Ethel married Albert Beauty and lived at Wellsburg. They had no children.

Lester Bresock - Born March 3, 1912 at Woodland, California - Died in 1912

Leonard Frank Bresock - Born October 20, 1913. Leonard is married and had one child.

Mary Colleen Bresock born April 17, 1933 at Kaysville, Utah. Colleen is married and has three sons. She lives in Stockton, California. She is married to Marvin Stone.

Further information writen by Jay Bresock:

I have been back to Wellsburg on three different occasions, they in turn have been to see me two different times - the last one in July 1957; however, Ella and I were divorced in 1918 after she refused to live out west, she died in 1946. She had remarried.

The last information I (Jacqueline J Eberly Biehl) have on Jay is that he was living in Stockton, California and owned a Pier One Import Store. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Notes from Hal Bresock per his dad Jack Bresock: Henry was killed by a blow to the head from someone crashing a beer bottle on his head during a Labor dispute at Henry's brewery, leaving the entire family orphaned. The older girls hired out as housekeepers with the oldest, Til, taking care of the family. 1. NAME: Name was changed when family came to America from Heinrich Briesach to Henry Bresock.

Heinrich married Marie Meyer on 1 Feb 1883 in Wellsburg, Brooke County, West Virginia, USA. Marie was born on 11 Nov 1854 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, USA; died on 3 Nov 1908 in Wellsburg, Brooke County, West Virginia, USA; was buried on 4 Nov 1908 in Wellsburg, Brooke County, West Virginia, USA. 2. 5.  Marie Meyer was born on 11 Nov 1854 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, USA; died on 3 Nov 1908 in Wellsburg, Brooke County, West Virginia, USA; was buried on 4 Nov 1908 in Wellsburg, Brooke County, West Virginia, USA.

    Notes:

From Hal Bresock per his dad, Jay Bresock: Mary was the Nanny/Midwife and Henry married her when his first wife died in childbirth. Mary was heir to the Meyer Ranch in West Virginia. Mary ended up working in a glass factory. Her sister, "So", helped to take care of the children. Mary and Sophia were twins. Family has stated that Mary may have had another son named John. It is said the father may be a sibling of her husbands first family ( Henry Bresock and Rosina Belschner,) or a brother of hers. The childs name is John. His name is shown from a letter that is written by a John MEYER who lists all the children of Mary Meyer and shows that a 'JOHN' is her first born. He is said he didn't like to take the name as 'Meyer', but rather wanted to use the name Bresock. This leads me to believe that the father of 'John' is a Bresock. When Rosina, the first wife of Henry, was pregnant with the last two of her children, Mary Carrie and Regina, she was in very frail health and Mary Meyer went to live with this family to help out the mother, Rosina. Mary would have been 27 years old at that time. Mary 's husband, Henry Bresock married her just three months after first wife Rosina died. He was killed in a bar room and she was about 3 months pregnant at that time with her last child, Jay Weirich Bresock. He never knew his father and she was left with that very large family of Rosina's and her own. Her twin sister, Sophia came to live with the family and help out. Eventually the children were placed with relitives, and family friends to care for. A few years later, Mary married her second husband Captain John P. Morris. They didn't have any children. She died a few years later when her dress caught fire while her husband was using the billows to shoe a horse and she was helping him. Physical Description: Tall, Dark hair, very large dark brown eye, olive complection Cause of Death: Burned to death
