Welcome to our Laumbattus-Feurer Geneealogy Page
Philip III and his father Philip II both served in the Civil War at the same time and in the same company. Their war records became mixed up and there was endless red tape involved when it became time for each of them, and their widows, to draw Civil War pension. Philip III moved back to St. Calir Co. early in the 1900's. He built a house in Marissa and later moved to New Athens where he owned and operated a coal mine which had formerly been owned by his mother's relatives. It was known as the Old Fullmer Mine. (The name Vollmer also underwent a change and part of that family were known as Fullmer.) Philip III died December 15, 1919 while at work in a Marissa mine. There were 3 people with Philip in their names. They all went by Philip, that is why I have put I, II, & III behind their names so they can be told apart. Information obtained from Ester Laumbattus

Came to America with his father in 1837 from Germany By this time the family name had undergone several changes in spelling, due partly to the fact that many people could not read & write English, much less German, and the name was spelled according to how it sounded to the person writing it. There are 37 documented misspellings of the name. Of the 6 sons who lived to adulthood, only 2 kept the original spelling, Lambertus. These were Jacob and Louis. Peter, William, & John use, Laumbattus. This makes it easy to identify the descendants. Weber Philip Lambertus,II left a widower with 7 children, and only recently discharged from Civil War Service, broke up housekeeping and placed his children with relatives for a time. The baby girl died shortly after her mother's death and believe that Weber Philip left the Belleville area around this time and moved to Perry Co. IL Weber Philip and his son Philip both served in the Civil War at the same time and in the same Company. Their war records became mixed up and there was endless red tape involved when it came time for each of them, and their widows to draw a Civil War pension. There is a source that thinks there were 12 children born to this union, but have 8 known. There were 3 people with Philip in their names. They all went by Philip, that is why I have put I, II, & III behind their names so they can be told apart. Information obtained from Ester Laumbattus
