Francis X. Mellecker post-office Oxford was born in Ross county OH June 7, 1846. When he was quite young his parents moved to Milwaukee WI where they lived 10 years, when they moved to Johnson County, where the subject of our sketch has since resided and lived in Oxford 5 years. The Mellecker family followed a similar path in America. Francis Xavier Mellecker, also known as F.X., was a distiller, a carpenter and a farmer when he brought his family to Johnson County in 1853. In fact, F.X. carved the altar in St. Stanislaus Church outside of Hills using just a steel blade knife.
