    BIOGRAPHY:
Henry was a "great" father. His devotion to his children was more evident than his devotion to his wife. He owned and ran a store next to his home in Stafford, Ohio. Upstairs (over the store room) he ran a pool hall. He had a team of horses (Jack and Bob) who were part of the family. They were great work horses, except for one thing..... It seems that Bob refused to pull the wagon when Henry cleaned out the "privy". I Don't know.... I think that's pretty understandable and funny ! Around 1918, Henry took his family to Oklahoma for awhile. Working in the oil fields there. After returning to Ohio, Henry worked in the oil fields in Ohio. It was his job to drive around and turn the pumps on and off, in Ohio various oil leases. He often talked bout the "balls of fire" that would glide along the ground, crossing the road in front of his car and vanish into the fields. He never could figure out what those lights were. Henry was missing his right thumb. One time while working on an oil rig.... alone in the "boonies".... he got his thumb stuck in the machinery. The pounding of the pump was pulverizing his hand and there was no one around to help him turn off the pump. He finally got his pin knife out and managed to cut his own thumb off. This courageous act probably saved his life. After retirement, Henry used to walk about three miles to town and back everyday. He would hang out at his favorite barber shop and shoot the breeze with old friends. When Henry broke his hip, he slowed down, however managed to stay pretty active until he died at age ninety-two. died at age ninety-two. Rhonda Gryspos
