They lived on a farm two miles west of Viola, until they retired from the farm some years ago and moved to Viola to make their home. Two years ago when they were in failing health and unable to keep their own home, they move to the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Flaherty near Reynolds, which has been their home since. Her husband is in St. Anthony's hospital, Rock Island, where he has been a patient several weeks.Mrs. Schaechter was a member of St. John's Catholic church, Viola, and a former member of the Altar and Rosary society.Surviving are the husband, three sons, Rev. Louis Schaechter, former chaplain of St. Anthony's hospital and now pastor of St. Mary's Catholic church, Tiskilwa, Ill., and John and Charles of Viola; four daughters, Mrs. Agnes Mack, Viola; Mrs. Josephine Carlson, Phoenix, Aria.; Mrs. Genevieve Flaherty, Reynolds, and Mrs. Marjorie Steiner of Sacramento, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Lena Schmitt and Mrs. Emma Jordan, Viola, Mrs. Mary Jones, Matherville, and Mrs. Freda Peterson, Aledo; a brother Fred Roettler of Viola, and 27 grandchildren.Preceding her in death were her parents, a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Mohr, and a sister, Miss Kate Roettler.The body was removed to the Crummy funeral home in Viola, where the Rosary was recited at 7:30 p. m., Tuesday evening.
