Notes:

Joseph Lantz was the son of Jacob Lantz and Margaret Fisher. Margaret was the daughter of Michael Fisher. Jacob was the son of Franz Lantz and Elizabeth Weingartner. Jacob and Elizabeth migrated from Odenheim, Baden, Germany to Karlsruhe, South Russia in 1809. They had three sons: Jacob, Johann and George. Joseph was the eighth son of Geoge and Margaretha. He was born some months after his father's death. His mother died when Joseph was six, he was raised by his brother George.

Joseph married Eva Fried in Russia in 1870. They had six children. Eva died in Russia. Joseph married Magdalena Schafer( her first husband was Anton Schaff)in 1888. Magdalena had four children from her first marriage, then she and Joseph had four children together. Their third child Veronica was born on board ship as they sailed to America.

Joseph and Magdalena along with their children traveled to America, settling in North Dakota USA. Henry their fourth child was born in North Dakota. Magdalena died when Henry was born. Joseph remarried when Henry was about two years old. He married Francis Braun-Stokey. He and Stokey had four children. She and Joseph then had three children together. After her death in 1898, Joseph remarried for the last time. Joseph married Katherina Zentner-Kohler in 1898. They had no children together.

Joseph was Rose Kohler-Steffan's Maternal Grandfather. Katherine Zentner-Kohler was Rose Kohler -Steffan's paternal Grandmother

Joseph married Magdalena Eva Friedt about 1869. Magdalena was born in 1855 in Karlsruhe, Odessa, Ukrayina; died in 1883 in Glen Ullin, Morton County, North Dakota, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
