Helen Louise (Sylt) Schaub
Died September 18, 2000
CEDAR - Helen Louise (Sylt) Schaub, 89, of Cedar, died Monday at Munson Medical Center.
Born Aug. 12, 1911, in Lake Leelanau, she was the daughter of Lars Larson and Martha (Bahle) Sylt. On Nov. 4, 1930, in Lake Leelanau, she married Paul Oscar Schaub, who preceded her in death in 1967.
A member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lake Leelanau, Helen enjoyed many years of farming and gardening. She also shared many happy years with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by eight children, Eva (James) Blohm of Saginaw, James (Wilma) Schaub of Traverse City, Philip (Carol) Schaub of Traverse City, Jenny (John) McAulay of Prescott, Bernard (Betty) Schaub of Saginaw, David (Joann) Schaub of Suttons Bay, Mary (Melvin) Schaub of Lake Leelanau and Elizabeth McNeil of Saginaw; a daughter-in-law, Elvera Schaub of Grawn; 25 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Fredrick and Norman; one grandson, one granddaughter; one great-grandson; three sisters, Gina, Ann and Clara; and two brothers, Louis and Clarence.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay, where a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Jerry Hunko serving as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.
