Birth: Oct. 28, 1927 Johnstown Cambria County Pennsylvania, USA Death: Nov. 14, 2015 Monroeville Allegheny County Pennsylvania, USA Colleen Jane Burkhardt, 88, of Monroeville, passed away Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015. She was born Oct. 28, 1927, in Johnstown, to the late Joseph and Anna Heeney. She was the beloved wife of the late Dean H. Harshberger and the late Richard I. Burkhardt. She was the loving mother of James D. Harshberger (the late Donna), Richard J. Burkhardt, Timothy C. Burkhardt (Lori), Kurt F. Burkhardt (Tammi), John "Jack" Burkhardt (Tracie) and the late Kevin F. "Rocky" Burkhardt and Marilyn Burkhardt. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Colleen graduated from Johnstown High School in 1945 and from the University of Pittsburgh's School of Nursing in 1949. She was a founding member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and a longtime member of the Ladies of Charity and the Women's Guild. She was a retired head nurse at Magee Women's Hospital. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2015, at the GENE H. CORL INC. FUNERAL CHAPEL AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike, 412-372-2100. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Interment will be following at Good Shepherd Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kevin F. "Rocky" Burkhardt Memorial Scholarship at Edinboro University, c/o Development Office, Edinboro, PA 16444.
