Rubin Spinler officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Adams.Mr. Bissen, 76, of rural Rose Creek, died Tuesday (Feb. 6, 1996) at Adams Health Care Center in Adams.He was born Aug. 1, 1919, in Nevada Township, Mower County. He graduated from Adams High School in 1937 as salutatorian of his class. On May 24, 1944, he married Mary Hogan at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. Mr. Bissen was a farmer all of his life in the Adams and Rose Creek areas, raising registered Holstein cattle on his Minnesota Century Farm. In 1944 he was inducted into the Mower County Fair Livestock Hall of Fame. A 4-H leader, Mr. Bissen was a member of the Minnesota State ADA for 15 years, and served on the American Dairy Association Board for 27 years as well as the rural Fire Board for 34 years. In addition, he was named to the Minnesota Swine Honor Role in 1950 as well as being named Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, which he was a member of, in addition to being a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He enjoyed traveling and playing cards.Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Virginia Bissen of Rose Creek, Susan Bissen and Patricia Bissen, both of Rochester and Dorothy Nolte of Waucoma, Iowa; three sons, Joseph Bissen of Rochester, Thomas Bissen of Minneapolis and Michael Bissen of Rose Creek; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Colleen Satern of Austin and Ursula Bissen of St. Paul. He was preceded in death by two brothers.Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Adams Funeral Home in Adams, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary service. Friends may also call from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday.
