Walter Grimes
Walter H. "Burley" Grimes, 85, of Wyaconda, Mo., died Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.
Born Aug. 15, 1920, in Warsaw, Ill., he was the son of Walter J. and Beatrice Agnes Henderson Grimes. On Sept. 28, 1941, he married Imogene Blattner in Davison, Mich. She died Feb. 19, 1997.
Mr. Grimes farmed most of his life and operated a plumbing business in the Wyaconda area until retiring several years ago. He was a graduate of Wyaconda High School. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of Wyaconda Baptist Church, the VFW in Memphis, Mo., and the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed working.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen A. Roberts of Kirksville, Mo., and Diane LaFrenz of Canton, Mo.; four grandchildren; 10 great?grandchildren; one niece, one nephew, and great?nieces and great?nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka, Mo., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Grimes will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Deatrick officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the Wyaconda Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Wyaconda Cemetery.
